Let's change the name of the U.S.A.

Why do we keep trying to bullshit everyone with the name the "United States of America".
We haven't had a name change in 238 years and I think it's time for a change.

First of all… The country at present has little resemblance to the USA at any point it time previous to this. Even the Civil War is questionable because if we only had the weapons now that we had then, we would probably already been in one right now.

There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING Obama can do that is not met with opposition from Republicans. Even in times of national crisis, whether natural or man-made, or when our country is threatened from within or without, from disease or floods or fire the Republicans oppose any action Obama takes.

So, let's drop the BS and simply call it the "States of America"

1. Even in times of national crisis and while under threat, the right shows their hate for America

over and over and over

You see they hate the current America because the current America is Brownish, Gayish, Muslimish, etc.

This is unacceptable to R party thus they hate America - if they can imprison or enslave all the wrong people like Brown people then all will be well again

2. Just finishing up the trilogy where we have become the "Islamic Republic"

People converted because of the disarray a chaos caused by these UN-united States. (Actually we become two countries -- the Islamic Republic to the North, the south is the Bible Belt: two separate countries that I think many would like to see right now.

Nick's a real name.
Nick's your buddy.
Nick's the kind of guy you can trust, the kind of guy you can drink a beer with, the kind of guy who doesn't mind if you puke in his car, Nick!

9. I think doing as you suggested would be akin to giving up

Why not just go to the UK and tell them we made an awful mistake breaking away from them 238 years ago and that they should feel free to take over again? We give up!

Yes, things are shitty. Yes, Obama has been faced with a Republican Congress that is so obstructionist that they don't deserve to be re-elected to a job that they don't bother to do.

Our country goes through good and bad. The 90's were pretty damn good (most of them at least).

I know there are people on DU that have continuously expressed a negative sentiment about their own country.

For the past 10 years I've lived outside the US and see it from the perspective of an American abroad. I still have hope that things are going to get better. At the same time, realistically I know it will take years more to reverse the crap that has been done since 2001.
