2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI live in the land of democratic cowardice; Colorado
Our cowardly candidates in Colorado have spent more airtime bragging about how they have fought against Obama then telling the truth, and they are all about to get their asses kicked.
Mark Udall is constantly attacked for supporting Obama 99% of the time, so he has determined that it is wiser toj brag about how he opposed the Prez on spying then talk about how he supported raising the minimum wage, enacting the Dream Act, supporting first responders, enacting legislation to prevent global warming, or the Affordable Care Act, or The American Jobs Act which the Republicans all filibustered. Or how Republicans shut down the government and tried to push us into default.
After Obama won the state twice, Udall decided it was wiser to appease Teabaggers than to support his base. Yes, he deserves to lose, and he will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
For Congress, we have a clown named Irv Halter running against Doug. Lamborn who suggested that the military generals mutiny against the Commander In Chief. But does Halter even mention that?
Not a chance. He has chosen to run against "Obamacare".
These assholes are all going to lose and then scratch their heads wondering why.
My question to all of you is this: is there ant Democrat in the country running with balls, convictionn, and pride in what they have been able to accomplish in spite of this obstructionist Republican machine, or have we all just surrendered?

(45,079 posts)appeasing teabaggers here. He's been a good Senator. I've seen that dumb ass fuck face Gardner on TV lying his ass off about Udall. The media has been saturated with lies about Udall.
Fuck that shit that Udall deserves to lose.
That's fucking disgraceful and you should be ashamed of yourself for saying that.

(16,377 posts)Udall has lost my respect but I voted for him. Never did care for Hickenlooper but I voted for him. I still like Polis. As usual, I voted a straight Democratic ticket and I always will, although this time I felt like I needed a shower. The stakes are just so high. The amendments are important, especially #67; did you notice it's referred to as "protecting women".

(16,377 posts)It's so misleading. If 67 passes and Beauprez and/or Gardner win, women and girls in Colorado are screwed.

(21,743 posts)I really don't care about Udall's career... I am more concerned about the rest of us having to live with the consequences of his cowardly (yes, cowardly) campaign.

(67,108 posts)the republicans or not, they do stand united. Far too often democrats are off arguing among themselves. I know, it's one big tent, but after awhile hearing that becomes bullshit.

(15,801 posts)You mean the afternoon I just spent with a roomful of others working a phone bank, while a couple dozen more went and knocked doors for Udall was complete waste of effort? Wow, I had no idea we were laboring so intensely for some kind of cowardly moron. How very kind of you to enlighten us (that WAS your intent, wasn't it?). I'll be sure to pass along your 'concern'.
I first met Mark Udall several years ago, impressed at the outset with his grasp of the details. We have had a number of conversations in which he asked as many questions as I did; I like that, it's honest. I've seen him spring into action while Cory Gardner was still busy polishing his hair before voting to shut down the government.
And you might want to check Irv Halter's record before you go trashing him as a clown. The people in the district are already aware of it, if they chose to stick with Lamborn in spite of that knowledge the idiocy is on them, not Halter.
For the record, I look for perfection in no candidate because it simply does not exist in any human. But I'll work my butt off for those who do the same for their constituents, and Mark Udall has a long record of doing exactly that.
If you're going to demand ridiculous standards, may I suggest the routine most mature adults have found to be most effective; it starts with a mirror.

I hope he wins too, and I spent my time working for Obama both times so don't get so self righteous. I thank you for your effort, but I wish Udall would make an honest one himself.

(15,801 posts)The Denver media has been pushing that idea, in Udall's case the word they used was "hiding". I heard that on the news one morning, and two hours later I asked Udall if he was, in fact, hiding. He and his wife, Maggie, laughed loudly; then they joined us in marching in a July 4th parade that was attended by thousands. If that's hiding, he's truly lousy at it.
And just this week Michelle Obama came to Colorado to campaign for him. Yesterday Udall spoke very ardently about the President's policies and accomplishments. Distance? What distance?
Between the Kochs and a bizarrely complicit media, I wonder if the 'distance' we should be concerned about is the diminishing one between media and corporate agendas.

(45,079 posts)having kids so since YOU think that " Udall deserves to lose" you will get Gardner, Enjoy that WILL YOU? but you really need to hope to fuck Udall doesn't lose because we sure as fuck don't deserve Gardner. So why should I care if Gardner gets in? And I will say that it's obvious you are not paying attention , Udall has not run from anything he has done. I think your problem is some of what he has done, such as his fight against the spying on American citizens are against what Obama supports. Udall is honest and has been a damn fine Senator. Gardner and outside groups have saturated the media here with lies about him.

(132 posts)Yes on all judges except one (sorry that I don't remember which one). I was surprised on the no position for labeling GMOs, but that may a bit more complicated than I realize.

I went to a small rally with Elizabeth Warren, Udall and Bennett.
I know more about Sen. Warren than our two guys, but I'm sure damn glad Ken Buck or Bob Schaffer aren't our senators.
The only person who is safe is Diana DeGette and she doesn't spew much liberal stuff. She voted no to Alan Grayson's amendment to end local police from acquiring military grade equipment for the police. I did a write in to protest her.... without getting arrested or sprayed.
