We have to remember that Mitch McConnell was the architect of the Republican's strategy of obstruction. Before Obama was even inaugurated, McConnell was formulating plans to oppose him at every turn (the famous steakhouse meeting is well documented.) He's made a career out of playing dirty games and anyone who expects anything else from him as Majority Leader is in for a sore surprise. We need someone as Minority Leader who can stand up to him, and Harry Reid is probably the last person in the world for the job.

I strongly suggest that progressives launch a campaign to get Elizabeth Warren as Minority Leader. She's tough enough to stand up for McConnell. She would help the Democratic Party actually stand up for a progressive agenda. Electing her as Minority Leader would certainly send the message that the proper way to react to 2014 is not to retreat, but to actually stand for something that will energize voters.

Maybe we should see about getting the people over at Progressive Change Campaign Committee to organize an effort to replace the whole leadership with actual leaders. My thoughts would be to replace Harry Reid with Elizabeth Warren; Debbie Wasserman Schultz with Howard Dean; Nancy Pelosi with Jared Polis.

Would you welcome and vote for Zinn? Chomsky? Seeger? and so forth in their 70's, 80's or even 90's?

It isn't about the age. Its about their ability to recognize what is valuable to society and then state so that it is clear, understandable and acceptable.

The candidates in yesterday's election didn't do that.

"Did you vote for Obama?" I don't have to say.

Don't expect me to stand in the cold outside of Fenway Park to shake hands with voters.

That represents a lot of what we had yesterday. A bunch of feckless losers.

Warren says what she thinks. Guess what? She won her election.
Sanders says what he thinks. Guess where he will be in January.

AND THEY AIN'T YOUNG!

If the Dems are gonna go around looking for just a bright, shiny face, the results will be the same as yesterday.

Candidates need to formulate, and state their values while challenging Repubs on their values. THEN, they need to vote those values if they are elected.
