Interesting comments from Joshua Landis (U of OK) on Syria - Accept reality, support partition.

Landis is the Director of Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Oklahoma. On Fareed Zakaria's CNN show today he put out the idea that those who have some influence in the region, including Europe and the US, support a partition of Syria into a Sunni state and a Shia/Allawite state. Put the artificial post WW I, European defined borders behind and recognize the realities in the region as it is. Including an autonomous Kurdish state in the north. Then work from there, instead of trying to win a multi-faceted civil war that's so convoluted that it can't be won militarily.
