Washington Times: Mike Huckabee gets suddenly presidential

"Where was the news media when Mike Huckabee stood in the very shadow of the U.S. Capitol last month, staging a determined rally for Israel, pro-life causes and traditional values? Journalists were mighty scarce that day. But things have changed. In the past 24 hours, considerable press now suggests Mr. Huckabee is striking a presidential pose, especially now that he’s off on a European tour accompanied by 100 pastors, with a new book due out in 10 weeks..."

"The race to be the leading social conservative in the 2016 Republican primary is on. And some familiar faces are in the running.

The Washington Post reports today that former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, who won the 2008 Iowa caucuses, is making serious moves towards a presidential run: Scouting for real estate for headquarters, scheduling meetings with top conservative donors, forming an organization that is hiring political operatives. His daughter Sarah even told the Post, “He is personally engaged and more aggressive in taking on meetings. He can’t wait to get back to South Carolina and Iowa.” "

OOops they quote the Washington Post.

the guy the GOP establishment puts in the race to split the wingnut vote so that their chosen guy Jeb gets the nomination with a plurality. That's how they intend to block Ayn Rand Paul or Ben carson.

He is an old goldie throat (an old term for radio personalities) and an old preacher.
Even when he is saying truly crazy shit he comes across as sane, calm, and totally believable. He can really pull st the evangelical wing.

Against him are his losses in earlier races. Plus as a friend told me yesterday, do you think the money guys would ever let a preacher be the nominee? That spot is reserved for the well connected. And they fear someday one of these preachers might actually read the bible and see what Jesus had to say about money and wealth (you know like share it.)
