McCain will seek a sixth term

http://www.azcentral.com/story/news/arizona/politics/2015/04/03/senator-john-mccain-face-national-tea-party-battle/70871528/

"As U.S. Sen. John McCain readies his official announcement of a bid for a sixth term, national "tea party" organizations are stepping up their efforts to find a viable conservative opponent to challenge him in Arizona's 2016 Republican primary.

McCain, who will turn 80 before Election Day, has universal name recognition as a former GOP presidential nominee. But while he would have the advantages of incumbency, including an influential perch as chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, he also would have to convince the electorate that after more than 30 years on Capitol Hill he has not overstayed his welcome."

Two words: Sarah Palin

Any person, place or thing that was willing to risk (or let himself get talked into) placing Sarah Palin within one heartbeat of the presidency of the United States deserves, at best, a place in a retirement home for the feeble-minded.

7. They would have had that same argument when he ran in 2010 though

Anyone paying attention then already knew she was a grifter and a moron, yet Arizona still reelected him. Yes, McCain should be defeated but at the same time don't be surprised if he gets reelected again.

If he's the nominee, he'll probably get re-elected.

But he might get a serious primary challenge this time, If he does, and loses, the Republicans might nominate another nut case along the lines of Sharon Angle and allow us to field a moderate that could ride Democratic coattails (if we have any!) right into the Senate.

Lately, his mental state has been showing some cracks in the walls, too. Should there be further (and more drastic) manifestation of this, his ability to run a campaign will be curtailed as well, and that's where the Sarah Palin reminders could put the icing on our cake.
