Jeb Bush Openly Admits He’s A Fan Of White Supremacy

Jeb Bush Openly Admits He’s A Fan Of White Supremacy

This is either a major gaffe or a really unsubtle dog whistle to let the hardcore racists on the right know that Jeb stands with them:

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) declared himself to be a fan of controversial social scientist Charles Murray’s books at a forum Thursday in Washington.

Bush lauded Murray’s books on two separate occasions during an interview with National Review editor Rich Lowry, at a forum sponsored by the conservative magazine.

Lowry asked Bush, “… is there any policy or anything public officials can do to help turn back what has been a rising tide of family breakdown crossing decades now?”

“Absolutely, there is,” Bush, a likely 2016 Republican presidential candidate, said. “It’s not exactly the core. My views on this were shaped a lot on this by Charles Murray’s book, except I was reading the book and I was waiting for the last chapter with the really cool solutions — didn’t quite get there.”

Later in the interview, Lowry asked Bush what he likes to read. Again, he cited Murray.

“I like Charles Murray books to be honest with you, which means I’m a total nerd I guess,” Bush said.

Charles Murray is a darling of the right-wing because of his book “The Bell Curve” which declares that black people are not as smart as white people because of their inferior genes. No, seriously, that’s exactly what the book is about. Here’s what the Southern Poverty Law Center says about Murray ...

The people who will react negatively to this comment were people who already weren't voting for Jeb anyway.

His goal right now is to win over the right-wingers who control the Republican Party and who consider him insufficiently conservative. This comment was not a fuck-up. It probably improved his chances of getting the nomination, and it won't hurt him in the general.

14. 100% Disagree. It is the very reason why a Republican can't win the general.

To give enough red meat to their batshit base, the primary winner will have to be so hard right, that he will never be able to attract independents to the general. Rmoney won because he had enough money to stay relatively neutral and just hang on. I thought Jebba the Bush was going to go the same route but it looks like after his endorsement of the Pence bigotry law in Indiana and now this, he's going to go full tea party. He's a fucking idiot.

Whomever wins the Democratic Primary wins the election. It is nearly statistically impossible for a Republican to win. That's why we need to be backing the candidate we want to see in the White House, not the one who can court the most Republicans.

Thanks!

and others like black conservatives (from a RW group called "21st smthg.) I see on Thom Hartmann's program would think. With gay folks what about the 2 ultrawealthy NY hoteliers, gay couple who just hosted a dinner for TED CRUZ knowing his views? Like they needed his money? The backlash was awful, posted here but they knew that at the outset.

Then you read how ELTON JOHN performs for, hangs with RUSH Limbaugh. Maybe it's the money commonality, they aren't as RW racist, bigoted as portrayed. It's just a well paying 'entertainment' gig. Who knows.

Even scarier is that this wasn't a JEB slip, rather that he feels comfortable and confident about this material. How is it going to hurt him if this comes out, in this white, wealth dominated, RW nation now? Lose black votes?

8. Absolute Dog Whistle

That was not a gaffe. That was nothing more, or less than a dog whistle. Not only did he say he read Charles Murray books and liked reading them he said his views were influenced by the book. When someone says something like that they are telling you the side on which they are standing.
