It seems that something’s happening with Bernie that feels different than presidential campaigns

in the past. The people I talk with (all Democrats and a few Independents) seem to see him as honest and sincerely caring for the people who are trying to make a go of it. I think they see the other candidates as the usual politician working harder on trying to craft a media message or figuring out how to pander to their voters.

1. I agree completely. The people who say he can never win don't take into

account the difference that a truly sincere message (backed up with years of action) can have on the electorate. We'll just have to see if he can get his message out to enough people. Everybody I know is sick of the status quo.

2. There are obviously some people Bernie will never get

(or more properly, who will never get Bernie). Those will be the hard-core haters, gun nuts, fundies, etc. I think even a few of the Teabaggers might find enough in Bernie to be worth a vote, especially if the Republicans run someone like Bush, whom they already despise.

As for the rest, I guess it's a matter of how effectively he can get his full message out. Will he get anything resembling fair coverage in M$M? Hah. He's got a winning message, but he needs to find innovative ways to deliver it through all the chaff that the Establishment will fling in hopes of obscuring this one bright light in the nation.

5. Ya know, Feingold used to do that too.

I actually saw yards with Bush and Feingold yard signs side by side.

Yes, I think there may be some surprises afoot.

they are looking for someone to speak for them who isn't a Wall Street buddy. All Republicans do is cut funding and services.

6. It was that Matt Taibi story that did it for me.

I've always liked Bernie, but never really took the time to dig into his voting history. I just got on the website Vote Smart, and looked at Sanders' positions and voting record.

He's JUST the person America needs.

I just gave his campaign my first donation; something I have not yet been able to do for Clinton. They say he can't win, but you know what? His message is GOOD, and if he is able to get it out, he WILL win.

8. Yes. It was strange last night.

Woke up in the middle of the night and oftentimes catch some alternative news on the dish so maybe I can get back to sleep. And, it crept over me slowly that much of the non right-wing news has been quite depressing lately. I could see that now because with Bernie in the race I have real optimism.

Someone I cane truly support without meaningful reservation.

It is liberating.

10. Yes, I think so. Doesn't seem he has much, if any baggage...just his record...and that looks good.

Also, he's vowed not to go negative, so it's going to be interesting to see how Hillary or any other Democrat, does much of anything but have to put out their record. As the donor lists come out...already the task is there.

12. I have been talking about it with co-workers who aren't politically active

They see Bernie as a breath of fresh air and a break from corrupt politics as it is now. People were smiling and happy to talk about him. They find his looks and his accent and his manner--all things we are told were campaign killers--are sort of lovable. But the one thing they ALL say is that he seems HONEST. That's why they support him. That's how he can win. He's the anti-Kardashian.
