2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumOK, here is why I love being a Democrat.
I hardly ever post here anymore because of the superfolous bullshit that I think is pure trollbait. Maybe there are 30% here that want Democrats to win. It would seem, by "greatest threads" that we are a minority on DU. Most of our most verbose posters here want to stop Hillary or whoever the Democratic frontrunner at any cost. OK, I have no issue with Bernie....except he is the ultimate disengenuous politician. He has always been a socialist, but now he wants to run as a mainstream Democrat? Why was that label so awful 20 years ago...but OK now?
But, fuck that point. What I am truely happy about is that we are a Party that can say "fuck you" to a President on a major foreign policy initiative. I have no idea whether TPP is good or bad for this country, but I am glad I am part of a Party that can say "bullshit" to the Executive BrNch. This could not happen in today's Republican Party. We've seen their how they always acquiesce to their POTUS when they are in control.

(15,859 posts)is "disengenuous" (sic)?! Because of party label? Thats SO fucked. He's more of a Democrat than most of them pretend to be. That you call him disingenuous says more about your mindset than his.
Put a D after your name... YAY. Put an I .... BOOO! Same policies, different knee-jerk. Its stupid.

(30,058 posts)causing some of our good Democrats to want to go elsewhere. If the remarks made was true but they do not meet the total test of truth and they are made over and over everyday. I am excited to get the primaries going, it just heating up. More than anything I want to see Democrats getting elected, we need Democrats in offices in order to change some of the RW crazy laws enacted.

Democracy is a beautiful thing ain't it.

the democratic president, by his party.
I get the merits of this particular issue and taking a stand.
What burns my ass to no end is this is more fight than this party has shown in so long I can't remember.
They have left this president out in the wind almost his entire term, and outside of the push for bank reform have cowered in the corner in the clinches every time.
What have they worked WITH this president on? Put even a fraction of this kind of fire and fight into working him to put some kind of meaningful progressive policy on his table to sign. To go at the republicans on their never ending stream of bullshit they advance.
What is they had fought like this for single payer or universal health care during the ACA debate?
What if they fought like this after Sandy Hook when the overwhelming majority of the country was ready for some meaningful firearm legislation?
What if they had fought like this for immigration reform.
Yeah, this might be bad legislation and they might be right on it. Great.
Doing victory laps over it rings hollow as shit given them putting the knife to their party's president IN THE ABSENSE of them showing up to fight the republicans for pretty much over three decades now.
