Hillary Clinton viewed unfavorably by nearly half of country, poll findsJuly 16, 2015, 12:09 pm * The Hill * By Jesse Byrnes
The percentage of people who view Hillary Clinton unfavorably has jumped 8 points since she announced her 2016 Democratic presidential campaign in April, according to a new poll.
Clinton is viewed unfavorably by 49 percent of people in the United States, the Associated Press-GfK poll released Thursday found, up from 41 percent who expressed that view in late April.
The percentage of people who view the former secretary of State favorably has fallen 7 points since the April poll to 39 percent, according to the poll. Among Democrats, that rating has fallen 11 points to 70 percent.
Meanwhile, President Obama's approval rating in the poll, 46 percent, has stayed constant during the same period, with more than eight in 10 Democrats holding a favorable view of him.
Clinton's receives poor marks on honesty, compassion, inspiration and likability in the poll, though she is more positively viewed on metrics such as competence and decisiveness.
Her campaign has sought to reintroduce the former first lady and New York senator in recent months, but has faced a barrage of attacks from Republicans over her email and family foundation.

(8,760 posts)Personally, I have spent too many painful years rooting for the Clintons.
It was such a relief for me to be a supporter of Barack Obama. I almost never had to
worry about him doing anything foolish.....even when he did, like the "cling to guns and religion" line at
a private fundraiser, he did it by telling the truth.
The Clinton's are always playing games with words.
If she wins the nomination, I will return to the unpleasant task of defending her.
Until then....I will enjoy life.

(99,716 posts)I love Obama. He is my favorite president. RFK is still my favorite politician. And Muhammad Ali is still my hero.
virtualobserver
(8,760 posts)I doubt that we can even predict all that he will accomplish in the rest of his term. I wouldn't put anything past him.
I was too young to be aware of RFK when he was alive, but I too admire him. Life and Politics are hard enough as it is, but I don't know if I would have been able to bear the string of assassinations that occurred in the 1960's. A number of people that I know who were a little older have told me that the killing of MLK and RFK , just a couple of months apart, caused them to completely shut down emotionally. They lost all hope.
Muhammad Ali is a man of great courage. I haven't really followed boxing since he retired.

(99,716 posts)Somewhere in storage I have autographs, autographed letters and photos from Bill Clinton, Ted Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, and Muhammad Ali.
When I six years old my mom took me to the front of a rope line to shake RFK's hand when he was running for his NY Senate seat.

So in reality, these animal verses go under my thoughts.
Wolves are hunters, territorial and savage killers,
Sheep are followers, not philosphers.
Doves soar and symbolize peace
A talking Serpent brought down Adam and Eve
So, walking arm and arm with the Clintons into a gang war (implied post 7) for turf, drugs and extortion money represents which animal?

Malcolm X was one of the seminal African American figures of the twentieth century along with Martin Luther King Jr, Muhammad Ali , W.E.B DuBois and Ralph Ellison. To separate myself from any of them would mean separating myself from all of them and casting aspersions on their struggles and aspirations and that is a place i will not go.

(20,450 posts)I think people are waking up and remembering why...they don't like this woman!
The Democrats are going to be sorry for putting their eggs in one basket.
The party's only saving grace? That the Republicans self destruct and the country is left with no alternative choice but to go with HRC.
Either way, we're doomed because the Democratic Party is shoving HRC down our throats and refuses to allow the PEOPLE to decide via the democratic process.
And because the Republican Party is full of nutjobs, we can't go that direction.
I would only accept HRC because I cannot allow these ReThugs to undo all the outstanding work that President Obama has done to get this country back on the right path. At least with HRC, I know there's a chance that more good work will be done rather than dismantled.
Do I like her? Hell no! I can't stand her or her husband. But I cannot stomach a ReThug.
All that said, polls don't mean a goddamned thing at this early stage. It's summer. It's early. And it's an online poll.
HOWEVER, I continue to predict that people will remember why they don't like HRC.
