It's reciprocal. I needed a break to focus on other things. It's nice to be back and supporting Sanders with such a great group of people united by serious issues. I'm so happy you're still here!

Civil Rights for all Americans, even before he entered politics, our many invasions of foreign nations etc. the rights-destroying Patriot Act and so many other issues, he has been correct. Unlike others who got it wrong so many times on so many issues.

I realized a while ago that, for example, Bernie Sanders was getting arrested protesting campus housing segregation right about the same time Hillary Clinton was president of the Wellesley Young Republicans, prior to "changing her mind" (???) about the Civil Rights Movement and the Vietnam War.

So he was going to jail for civil rights while she was deciding whether she even supported the idea.

Sanders was right about Iraq. Right about the Patriot Act. Voted against DOMA, something almost no can say.

It would be interesting to see how many column inches a simple list of the progressive values he has correctly championed, often long before anyone else on the public stage "evolved" to them.

I think it would be a long list, indeed.

they learn who he is. Polls I've seen recently show that only 33% of AAs have ever heard of him, still. That was the case with ALL Americans a few months ago which is why he is working so hard to get that name recognition.

And 23% of AAs according to that poll, support him. That seems to be up from the 3% we keep seeing here on DU.

However, all over social media as more AAs learn about who he is, they are surprised by his record. He has the support now of several prominent AA musicians, rappers are jumping to his side, and they have huge followings in the AA community and will be helpful in spreading the word about him.

That is ALL the latest talking points re race issues was about, to try to pre-empt him before minorities learn who he is.

I don't see it working at all, in fact, it's having the opposite effect with people wondering after they see his record 'why are they protesting HIM, he is our ally'.

Sanders has been around a few blocks, more than a few times. He didn't blink at being "confronted" on a topic he's taken more seriously, for more time, than nearly everyone else in the conversation for a single second.

Quite a sticky bomb to throw into the liberal midst, though. The attempts to turn any reaction whatsoever into a negative were fascinating to watch. Today I saw a disappointed poster trying to keep it alive by repeatedly insisting that while Sanders was clearly fine, his "supporters" (some? all? DU?) have been terrible (and therefore everyone should keep fighting).

I have Bernie stickers on both my pickup trucks and so far I've gotten good response from people who I come in contact with when they see them.
Mostly I hear, I like what I hear him saying, or I'll be voting for him, even republiCONs have said those words to me.
