Obviously she is still ahead, but that should be sign a of concern that there was 19 point swing on the democratic side.

(33,497 posts)Just like Bernie has to work on getting more support from people of color who will vote for him. If he can't he won't get the nomination or be electable either.

(2,707 posts)but then again they consistently have Obama's approvals lower than all the other polling firms, so I know better than to trust them

(50,304 posts)I know we've all taken him as a joke (as he should be taken), but I've been reading quite a few posts about Democrats getting on his (solid gold, diamond encrusted) bandwagon. And his numbers keep going up. Scary.
In July Trump was 16 points down and is now within 6.
Here is a CNN poll which i found interesting.

(22,890 posts)He could never win a general election. Way too much baggage, way too many videotaped stupid utterances.

(2,707 posts)but I still think Trump will require the incumbent party's President's, in this case Obama, approvals to fall under 40% (where HHH, Carter, to win. Unlike W. or Jeb would have been but for his gaffes, far worse than Trump IMO, Trump is a guy who won't win when the incumbent's approvals are between 40-50, the tossup range.
Hopefully, Obama is saving his political capital fuel for next year, and given that unlike in 1991, when a recession was going on and Bush I's approvals were steadily dropping, in 2015 the economy is better than where it was previously.

(23,946 posts)will always choose democracy over the creeping national Christofascism offered by the GOP.
On your Trump concern, all within the margin of error....I personally find it disgusting how 40% of Americans can so easily be brainwashed and would vote for a yellow dog if the media told them to.

(3,839 posts)electoral votes are what is important. How is she, or Bernie, doing against the Clown Car Occupants in the electoral college?
ericson00
(2,707 posts)right? In the 57 elections the US has had, only 4 were won by candidates who got less than a plurality of the vote. What occurred in 2000 was previously repeated in 1888. Meaning that no one alive today on the face of the earth has lived thru any such winner aside from George W. Bush.
Feeling the Bern
(3,839 posts)If the Democrat is up by the margin of error only, then the rat asses in the GOP can (and have) steal the election.

(2,707 posts)not Jeb Bush, not Donald Trump, and people like Walker are still widely unknown but still have bad ratings.
And once again, a socialist, per gallup, is less electable than an atheist or Muslim.

(2,707 posts)everyone knows that the party leaders are not letting a self-declared socialist get the nomination, so its a waste of time in some sense.
