President Obama wants Mideast peace in second term

Obama wants Mideast peace in second term
July 15, 2012

President Obama's agenda for a second term includes bringing peace to the Middle East.

"I have not been able to move the peace process forward in the Middle East the way I wanted," he said in an interview with WJLA, the ABC affiliate in Washington, D.C. "It's something we focused on very early. But the truth of the matter is, that the parties, they've got to want it as well."

Obama also pointed to strengthening the economy and passing comprehensive immigration reform as goals for a second term. "We've got a lot of work to do, especially in rebuilding our middle class here in this country but ultimately it's going to require people coming together and Congress working with the executive branch."

As much as I admire Obama, I can't see that region EVER having peace. HopeHoops Jul 2012 #1

Yes, he can multi-task (like what's metioned in the article), but I don't think there will ever be true peace in that region. To me, it's a lost cause.
Let's focus on things that we really have a shot of improving at home.
