His problem in FL is the 250,000 Puerto Ricans who have moved to Central Fl along the I-4 corridor over the last decade. They have already assured Grayson a seat in Congress and likely will hand Obama the win.

Rubio does not help with the Puerto Rican vote. He helps with the Cuban expatriots, but they were voting Republican anyway.

Pawlenty would be the least damaging. Porter, maybe, but as others have pointed out, most people would ask, "Who's Porter?"

But that was also what they asked about Palin in 2008. But I don't think Portman is as dumb and coo-coo as Palin.

Not sure whether it is not enough or too many martinis. I guess I need a double blind study on this question. The only problem is how do you blind a martini unless you, yourself, become blind as a result.

One olive, or two, my friend?

I know her reasons for not wanting the position, but she can get care for her family in DC just as easily as NM.

Long shot pick.

Only two on this list would unite the Republicans, Christie and Jeb. Christie won't take it. Jeb would enable Obama to campaign against Bush-Cheney and bring back horrible memories to the electorate. Besides, Jeb probably doesn't want it this year anyway. All the others have significant problems with one or another major Republican constituency (crazy religionists, crazy otherwise, or plutocrats). Therefore, I think he'll go somewhere else.

Also, he needs something dramatic to take the attention off his problems.

One darkhorse possibility: Meg Whitman. Pluses: a woman, arguably sane, a surprise to divert attention, the plutocracy would love it. Minus: picking her would make people think even more about Bain/outsourcing/greed. However, I think Willard is completely tone-deaf about those issues and all his billionaire buddies would tell him it was a great choice. Could also possibly be one of the female Republican governors but I can't think offhand of any of them that have the star power of Meg.

The next time a poll went up here, I said "I dunno."

Now I am back to Pawlenty--he looks like the only stooge who will reliably take direction and will go down with the ship!!

1. Ex-Senator and Congressman.
2. Governor.
3. Conservative as fuck.
4. As religiously insane as anyone on the right can want.
5. Tea Bagger approved.
6. Relatively young.

I think this dude makes a great counterpart to Romney.

Mittens can't really talk religion because he's trying to stealth Mormon his way through. But Brownback is a firebrand of the "correct" religion who talks the talk well. He's savvy enough to get that message out without calling President Obama's religion into question. He can draw back the people afraid of voting for a cultist in Romney.

And he has experience in both legislative and executive office. Though he'd have only two years as governor should the ticket win, his fairly long experience in both houses of Congress says he's no buffoon like Palin, no matter how crazy his pandering rhetoric.

I think Brownback shores up the crazy right and doesn't bother the Independents that realize the VP doesn't really do anything other than PR.

If they were smart……

If.
