FEC donation info: Iowa

According to the FEC:

HRC received 169 donations from Iowa residents in the 6/30 cycle, totaling $51,891

Breaking it down further, the Cownie family, prominent business leaders and politicians in Des Moines, donated around 15k to the campaign, nearly 30% of the total amount raised. According to FEC records, James Cownie has donated to the Republican Party of Iowa, most recently in 2014.

In the same cycle, Bernie Sanders received 95 donations, totaling $16,396.

FWIW, President Obama received nearly 30k donations from Iowa residents in the 2012 cycle.

One hell of a President as well.

Clintons totals are impressive in comparison to her challengers.

Clinton clearly has the infrastructure advantage, and has the local politicians and business leaders she needs by her side. A big asset on the road to victory.

Having said that, BOTH Clinton and Sanders have a lot of work to do when it comes to winning the hearts of Iowa voters. I counted only 24 'crossover' donors for HRC (donated to both Obama in '12 and HRC in this cycle). Concerning, but this is a small sample size compared to the big picture. Hopefully we will see an uptick in the number of contributions in the next cycle.
