ABC This Week: Don't Underestimate Bernie - If It's Sanders vs. Trump-Sanders Will Win

If it's Bernie Sanders and it's Donald Trump on the republican side, Bernie Sanders could be elected president of the United States.

Timemark: 1:45 -- ABC Transcript:

George Stephanopoulos: When Bernie Sanders was talking to Martha Raddatz last week, he said that this is not about being anti-Clinton -- it's about being pro-Bernie Sanders. Is he right about that?

Matthew Dowd:

The old rules no longer apply, the old rules you have to have all this organization in all of these states. You have to do this. And I think Bernie Sanders, to me the driving force of Bernie sanders is actually similar to what's going on in the republican side, which is authenticity. He's viewed as the most authentic person in that race, he doesn't dress up, he comes out and says his message. He's actually very thoughtful. It's opposite of Donald Trump's authenticity, authenticity without a lot of philosophy behind it. I don't underestimate Bernie Sanders. Bernie Sanders could easily win the democratic nomination. If it's Bernie Sanders and it's Donald Trump on the republican side, Bernie Sanders could be elected president of the United States.

the sensible response is to run as far and as fast as you can away from that person. How can anyone ignore such a damning statement. It's like being an "honorary Borgia." Not to mention her being buddy-buddy with the likes of War Criminal Kissinger, Blankfein and Murdoch?

I almost passed out at his enthusiasm for Bernie.

This was after watching "Week of the Presstitudes" and flipping channels later to CBS and then ABC. (I don't have a DVR thingy from my low tier Time Warner Cable allowing one to scroll and watch without the commercials) so I have to put much effort in flipping back and forth. Given the Blitz of Commercials and that they all do Commercials at the SAME TIME these days ....it can make one crazy.

But, yes. Although I wondered if Matt's exuberance was real or not....since I don't follow these people the way I used to years ago.

Still it was "refreshing" to see. Whether it lasts, or not, is the question.

I gave up watching most of it when I got my Roku Box four years ago. I followed her for awhile and have watched what DU'ers have been saying about her change and "Big Ed" gone from MSNBC like Donahue, Ratigan and others inbetween and following since that time I used to check into. I figured it wouldn't last long until she was Muzzled or Cancelled if she didn't comply like the rest.

What fun times...yeah... Our Mega Corporations can censor whatever they want and we become a country that CENSORS and even our International News is limited to those who can find it from other sources and "Low Bandwidth" for DSL users will even restrict that.

Used to stoke the fire of hate the Tea Party/Republican party has for Democrats this summer.
So that Jeb can waltz in later, singing the Song of the South, acting like he is smarter than Trump.
Then he might pick Walker to be his vice presidential candidate, who is smaller than Jeb.
Because Jeb wants to be the tall one on the podium.

Are they going to be doing this for the next six months?

Every story is about who beats who and who seems authentic and who stays on message.

No one gives a crap in the MSM about examining actual policy differences between candidates.

None of the Republicans, and least of all Donald Trump, has a good plan for how to recover lost ground for the middle class. They're owned by the Koch brothers, ideological children of the John Birch Society who believe the only problem with America is that it spends money on the poor and wants to guarantee their voting rights.

As for authenticity, Trump has some that others don't or does he? Am I alone in thinking he might not be the rabid bigot he pretends to be? Whether he is or isn't, the one thing that is most authentic about him is his ego, and I don't think most Americans want a president who really believes that he is infallible.

but then suddenly the lovely state fair atmosphere will turn into Jumanji!
(Open the gates and release the lions and quick sand and fire and floods!!!)

Make no mistake, any one of our candidates, be it Hillary or Joe or Bernie will be suddenly thrown into a raging river without a paddle, and the waters will be filled with poisonous snakes (media) and man eating sharks (corporations).

Can't you see it coming??

Me the final straw was gay marriage and the ISIS-like attitude and reaction by the GOP at all levels of govt from the ruling. Yes I said it, they are ISIS-like. And I suggest anyone who is out there campaigning for Bernie to use that very comparison of the GOP... ISIS-like. They are a party of total anger, hate, intolerance, racism, sexism, elitist loving, pro-wealthy and to hell with everyone else. The GOP has nothing in common with the average American, and nor does Mrs. Priss, Hillary who is no better than the GOP.

It'll be interesting to hear a conservative's thoughts on issues; we don't have many conservatives around here.

One word of caution, if I may: You've joined DU at a peculiar time, when there's a lot of sparring--some of it pretty rough--between supporters of the different candidates for the Democratic nomination. So you may want to be a little careful about what you say and where about any particular candidate or group. Nothing's wrong with your post here---just bear in mind that such a post in the Hillary Group would almost certainly result in a firestorm of indignation followed by a ban from the group.

I'm stating this only because you're brand new to DU and I wouldn't want you to experience a jury hide on one of your posts or a ban from a group simply because you hadn't gotten a heads-up.
