A Public Policy Polling (PPP) survey released on September 9th finds Hillary Clinton dominating the race, leading Sanders 66 to 12 percent in the current Democratic field. If Joe Biden enters the contest, Clintons lead shrinks, but not enough to make the state competitive. With Biden in the race, Clinton polls at 54 percent to Joe Bidens 24 percent, and Bernie Sanders 9 percent support.
Clintons strength in South Carolinas Democratic primary, comes largely from her appeal to African-America voters. Black voters overwhelmingly approve of her as a candidate, with 78 percent holding a favorable opinion of Clinton to just 10 percent who view her negatively.
In the Democratic race, Clinton leads with black voters, garnering 59 percent support to 27 percent support for Joe Biden, and just 3 percent support for Bernie Sanders. While Sanders has not caught fire with African-American voters in the Palmetto State, it is not because they dislike him, but rather many have not formed an opinion of the Vermont Senator yet. Sanders has a 32 to 20 percent favorable rating with African-America voters, but a full 48 percent are not sure how they feel about Sanders candidacy.

(9,086 posts)Hillary has total dominance in every aspect in South Carolina. Nobody can even come close to making a dent. The SC voters have made their decision from the beginning that they would stand with Hillary and that is their choice.
Other candidates will still do a couple appearances in SC to avoid being rude, but really everybody knows SC will be Hillary by a landslide. Other Democrats campaigning there is a friendly gesture but that's about it.

There's still time to build it from the ground up, without the money, without the media, without the PTB.
We will see.

HRC is winning the Democratic primary in SC because of its heterogeneity. It has nothing to do with southerners. ancient anti-semitic tropes, or horns.
If IA and NH were as heterogeneous as SC and the rest of the nation those contests wouldn't be as nearly hotly contested.

(14,881 posts)Bernie Sanders is surging in the polls in New Hampshire and gaining ground in Iowa, but he's not stopping there. The Vermont senator's presidential campaign is looking ahead and building an organization in South Carolina, making two hires on Tuesday to add to its Charleston-based team.
Andrew Springer, formerly the senior editor of social media at ABC News, joined Sanders' South Carolina team as the state communications director on Wednesday. And Christale Spain, the deputy executive director for the South Carolina Democratic Party, will start her role as Sander's political outreach director there on Sept. 15th.
