Hillary Clinton at a rally in Hopkinton.

..........The state chapter of the National Education Association announced its endorsement of the former Secretary of State this morning.

NEA-NH President Scott McGilvray calls Clinton a "tireless fighter for both students and educators."

The endorsement comes with the support of the union’s more than 16,000 members in the first-in-the-nation primary state..........

The teacher unions are very militant in looking for the candidates who support children and public education. I always listen to what the teacher unions say as they are very well informed about their core interests. If the NEA-NH is backing HRC, you should listen to their reasoning. These people know what they are talking about. I know a lot of activists in teacher unions and they are some of the smartest people around.

Please do not let all the negative propaganda from the right wingers color your opinions. HRC scares the tar out of the right wingers, which is why they spew so much negative propaganda against HRC. Let's not fall for their nonsense.

Because they've bought into the inevitability argument like many others and they don't want to suffer her payback should she win. I've never seen Hillary disavow charter schools or the corporate education reforms being touted by many Democrats (no I'm not talking about Common Core). Perhaps you could point me to some instances where she has stated that charter schools are a direct threat to public education and teachers unions? Cause I haven't seen them.

School vouchers allow public tax dollars to be taken from public education for all children and spend those dollars on private and parochial schools which often promote racist, classist, homophobic and sexist ideas. Vouchers are very damaging to public education.

Hillary Clinton has a decades long record of fighting against voucher programs, both in Arkansas and nationally, as FLOTUS and as a Senator.

Tue Sep 15, 2015, 11:51 AM

The people most knowledgeable about both candidates education positions are more impressed with Hillary Clinton's history and current answers to their questions than they are Bernie Sanders.

Both Sanders and Clinton have backed charter schools in the past. At one time many people thought charter schools were a way to bring innovation to public education. Of course, we know now the charter school movement has been used to steal public tax dollars from children to the benefit of a few wealthy individuals.

I sincerely hope HRC backs away publicly from charter schools in the near future. I would also hope BS will repudiate the charter school movement publicly, as well.

Sanders and Clinton have very similar records regarding public education from their records in the Senate. Since the NEA-NH has endorsed HRC, she has told them something to move her ahead of BS in their minds. The endorsement was extremely positive toward HRC. You should take the time to read it.

Do you have any new information that BS has disavowed charter schools?

Scott Walker and John Kasich are two peas in a pod. Kasich's handlers just keep him away from people more so he cannot be filmed saying horrid things. Kasich is even scarier and meaner than Walker, it has just been hidden better, as there is no real news media in Ohio.

Take a look at these articles about the charter school scandals in Ohio. Kasich is sending billions of dollars into the hands of GOP donors. It is truly pay to play in Ohio. Our public school children are being robbed of their futures by these crooks and Kasich is their hand maiden.

http://www.plunderbund.com/2015/09/13/ohio-dems-call-for-independent-investigation-of-john-kasichs-chartergate-scandal/
"Dubbed Chartergate, it’s the scandal waiting to crack open and spill all over the governor’s just pressed, positive-vision campaign for president. It’s the scandal Mr. Kasich has so far avoided answering questions about. It’s the scandal that involves actions taken by David Hansen, the governor’s school choice chief at the Ohio Department of Education, who illegally altered data on an official state report in order to improve the rankings of some large charter school sponsors and operators."

Hansen is the husband of Kasich's chief of staff.

http://www.plunderbund.com/2015/09/12/kasichs-disgraced-school-choice-chief-was-recently-in-charge-of-ohio-voter-registration-records/
"Hansen already had a history of altering data when he was hired by Kasich’s education department. While at the Buckeye Institute, Hansen was caught intentionally altering data in a report to favor many of the same charter schools. Similarly, large charter school operators, like White Hat’s David Brennan, were funding Hansen’s “research.”"

"According to Ben Piscitelli, spokesman for the Franklin County Board of Elections, Hansen worked for the BOE on two previous occasions. “Hansen was hired in 2009 as manager of administrative services in our fiscal department and would have been responsible for ordering office supplies and scheduling maintenance of office equipment,” wrote Piscitelli in a recent email response to PB Reporter John Spinelli. “He returned to the board of elections as supervisor of voter services in 2013 and help managed full and part time employees responsible for maintaining voter registration records.”"

Many state employees will confirm privately that there is a reign of terror in the state departments. Anyone who says anything out of line with Kasich will be immediately fired or worse. People are terrified for their jobs and their futures. Kasich is slowly but surely selling Ohio's public resources to private individuals for their personal profit at the expense of the public. Kasich is not a moderate despite the lies in the media claiming he is.

But overall, I think you are right. I think the membership for the most part already knows who they support. Areas where it is huge are in fundraising, enthusiasm, advertising, and get out the vote. These endorsements are not insignificant by any means. All of these things lead to GOTV, not necessarily telling their membership how to vote expecting them to follow. It has a broader societal effect.

He threw unions under the bus almost immediately and the teachers' unions got Arne "Charter Schools Uber Alles" Duncan in the bargain.
