That Liberty University speech of Bernie Sanders -- I hope the establishment in both parties watched what happened last night. Trump should try to do the same thing. Maybe go to the Apollo Theater, do a speech in enemy territory about bringing back the middle class. Or other Republicans: Walker, Cruz, Rubio, the rest. Go into so-called enemy territory and try to convince people who don't normally like you of your worldview. That was bold of Sanders.

The logic is that black folk are "the enemy"!?
If I were being praised by a Fox tool on Fox's number morning propaganda show I might want to reevaluate my strategy, but that is just me...maybe the Fox audience will be won over with a change of hearts and minds, the same minds that mindlessly heart Trump.
It could happen.

(11,366 posts)I don't care who praises Sanders when it comes to "optics."
Ingraham didn't say she agreed with him on the issues because she doesn't. She was merely talking about how good it looks and how much guts it took to go into the lion's den and give a speech. She's suggesting Trump do the same thing by going to well-known African-American establishment to give speeches.
The difference, of course, is that Trump doesn't know how to be gracious, so it wouldn't work, obviously. He'd just insult the audience. Sanders is quite a bit more tactful.

If I were Hillary and being praised by neocons like Kagan for a speech that broadly hinted at an aggressive, militaristic approach to foreign policy, I might consider rethinking my policy.
