The new CNN poll clearly shows Clinton will benefit if and when Biden drops out.

The bar chart below shows the comparison..

===============

Hillary's lead over Sanders nearly doubles without Biden. This should put to rest the notion that Biden is drawing votes away from Bernie... which made no sense from the beginning. Biden and Bernie have almost nothing in common.. whereas Biden and Hillary are very similar on most issues.

Doesn't he have to be *in* to drop out? -eom gcomeau Sep 2015 #1
Seems he will need to officially drop out to keep the pollsters from including him. DCBob Sep 2015 #4

Numerous polls and common sense logic make it clear that Biden would pull more support from Clinton than from Sanders (that some have argued otherwise is just mind-boggling).

But, if Biden runs, Clinton is still more likely to be the nominee. And it sends the message that Democrats think Clinton is vulnerable or unelectable, which will lessen her chances in the general election. Regardless, Sanders isn't going to win enough delegates to be the nominee. I don't see how anyone benefits from Biden running. Biden is arguably to the right of Clinton, but if he runs, it's probably in the best interest of the Democratic Party that Biden win the nomination. He's less polarizing than Clinton, and as I said, his running will likely make for a weaker Clinton in the general election. Unless Clinton can win the nomination with ease even with Biden in the race, in which case she will appear more, not less, electable. That's unlikely, though, as Biden would probably put up a strong fight.

the push to get Biden to declare and in this race is unmistakable...it's the establishment giving Hillary the coup de grâce. She's wounded and hemorrhaging, they don't want Bernie so this is plan-B. Once he gets in, expect the killing blows to come from all directions {"establishment" Democrats, media, oppo dumps...} until Hillary is basically "Deaned" out of this race.

The establishment already tried to Dean Bernie Sanders and failed...now they're going to Dean the establishment choice that couldn't hold a bulwark lead. Make no mistake...Biden getting in marks TPTB of the Democratic party-insiders deciding that Hillary will be driven from the race...and she likely will be: through hit-pieces, through trench-work, and manufactured scandals the media just won't let go of until her candidacy is dead.
