like it or not, what Hillary says or tweets or expresses in any way, has a lot of influence.

And that's one reason I find her surgically careful equivocations so frustrating.

She could make a huge difference, particularly in the lives people of color if she spoke out unequivocally against private prisons and detention centers and against the death penalty.

The racism inherent in these institutions is shockingly clear.

One figure keeps popping into my mind:

69-% of black men who drop out of high school, go to prison. And the profit driven private prison industry is a significant part of the problem.

That "Powder dry" thing was the rallying cry of the DLC and right leaning democrats like a decade ago when they argued against standing up to Bush.

But yeah, in fact the more left leaning dems here constantly had to contend with the "Powder Dry" democrats that asserted that they needed to reserve their political capital for strategic purposes that, aside from throwing away elections to uninspiring blue dogs, they never really used.
