"A few years ago, this guy would have been carrying our bags"

Who remembers when the Clinton campaign said:
A few years ago, this guy would have been carrying our bags.?
http://nypost.com/2012/09/03/bill-clinton-made-insensitive-race-jab-about-obama-in-2008/

That people, is dog whistle politics!
No matter what you want to believe
the reality is the Clinton campaign
was all about dog whistle politics.

The supposed "pragmatic" AA vote,
the "Bernie can't win"attitude, so
we'll settle for the lesser evil and
vote for Hillary rather than vote for
REAL CHANGE is exposed.

If the AA community supports Bernie Sanders
they will see a change. They will experience a
different world. If you vote for Bernie you will
create the change you seek.
Join the political revolution, Vote for Bernie!

If you believe your vote for Hillary could elect her,
the same vote WILL elect Bernie just as easily

If the AA community wants a true fighter,
a true Allie, they will vote for Bernie,
not the devil they know!

From the Columbia Journalism Review on the original article the quote was taken from:

But Lizza’s next sentence is the highly dubious one. It reads: “Tim Russert told me that, according to his sources, Bill Clinton, in an effort to secure an endorsement for Hillary from Ted Kennedy, said to Kennedy, ‘A few years ago, this guy would have been carrying our bags.’”
-----------------

Second hand report of an anonymous account of words spoken.

There is a reason that 90% of the links on that quote are from places like Rush Limbaugh, Breitbart, etc and not mainstream outlets.

Just a ridiculous OP.

She's like the Virgin Mary, that woman. Completely without sin.

The Hillary supporters are getting more delusional by the hour. Back her if you want, but please don't try to paint her as a saint.

After all, if she gets the nomination, you'll be here telling us she's evil -- the lesser of two evils -- and we have to vote for her. let's get the evil on the table now.

You know, she's just dreamy and everyone's picking on her, and you know why!

And she probably was FORCED to say these things because, you know, as a struggling woman trying to get ahead, you know, you just gotta play rough.

Yeah, that's the ticket!

In 2008 Obama had been a senator for 4 years and a state senator for a few years. Clinton was a multiple term governor and 2 term president while Kennedy was a long sitting senator from the Democratic family, the last surviving Kennedy brother.

It's at least as likely that Clinton was talking about paying dues to more senior politicians.

Just disgusting to see a story only promoted by the RW to not only show up on DU but to receive as many recs as it has.

I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on,” she said in the interview, citing an article by The Associated Press.

It “found how Senator Obama’s support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me.”

There’s a pattern emerging here,” she said.

A broader base to build a coalition?
Hard working Americans, WHITE AMERICANS?
Are white Americans a broader base coalition?
Hillary says they are???

Is that a "dog whistle" I hear?

"Clinton allegedly made the racially insensitive remark to Sen. Ted Kennedy as he tried to convince the liberal lion to endorse his wife, Hillary, Obama’s rival for the Democratic nomination, according to The New Yorker."
Key word here is "allegedly". If you said "Who remembers when the Clinton campaign allegedly said:" you would be right, instead you left that out so that it changes the entire claim. Fixing that would be the correct thing to do.
