Paternalism in the Democratic Primary

"Paternalism (or parentalism) is behavior, by a person, organization or state, which limits some person or group's liberty or autonomy for that person's or group's own good." (Wiki)

I see this everywhere, from all sides.

I really wish that folks would stop saying things like "If ____only knew what was good for them they would vote for ____" and "_____ does not like our candidate because _____ is telling them what to think" and especially "_____ is the dupe of other members of _____."

This ______can think for herself. She appreciates that some of you want to save her from herself. But she is a grown woman who does not need to be saved. And when you tell her that voting based upon her experiences as a _____ who is a member of the _____ community is dangerous for democracy, because the leaders of the _____ community are not to be trusted, you invalidate her experiences as a _____ which are an essential part of who she is.
