Clint Eastwood Endorsing Mitt Romney

Actually, I am surprised. Clint appeared just a few months ago disgusted with the candidates running and even said he would not endorse. Mitt is against Gay Marriage and Clint came out for gay marriage. Didn't Clint also compliment the auto bailout? I still like Clint but this sounds like an odd move on his part.

I am surprised because I think of Clint as an old school Republican. Slightly moderate and not like the Tea Party or the extreme Republicans we have today. I thought he might just not comment on this election. I can see him endorsing McCain but Romney? I bet even Mitt was surprised.

His kids went to the same school as one of mine for a while. They were always on the verge of getting kicked out for using drugs and otherwise getting into serious trouble. If their father had been named anything OTHER than Clint Eastwood, they would have been history after the first offense.

But he used the usual Republican tactic: sweep dirty laundry under the mat, and pay as money as is necessary to keep it there--typical Republican tactics. This did not surprise me, even if I find it regrettable. Eastwood seemed on the verge of a personal breakthrough, and chooses instead to slip back into the old standard stance that makes Republicans so odious in the first place.
