Could Romney be an early dementia or Alzheimer's case?

Last edited Sun Aug 5, 2012, 04:08 PM - Edit history (1)

I took part in a voter registration drive Saturday. The lady I helped change her registration remarked on Romney's 'gait;' apparently he takes very short steps. This lady says she's heard that a very short gait could be a sign of Alzheimer's or dementia. She also pointed out that some of his verbal gaffes may indicate neurological impairment.

And a Google search on Alzheimer's AND dementia comes up with a number of hits:
USA Today: A person's gait could be an early sign of Alzheimer's
Business Week: Changes in Gait May be Early Signs of Alzheimer's in Older People
Age and Ageing: Gait Disturbance in Alzheimer's Disease: A Clinical Study

From the Business Week article:

A slow or uneven gait in older patients may be more than the effect of advancing age, according to three studies that found walking disorders in the elderly also may be early signs of Alzheimer’s disease.

The studies sampled a combined 4,000 people, finding that pace, rhythm and the size of steps changed with neurological illness, according to information presented at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference in Vancouver.

Watching an older patient walk into an exam room may offer a first clue that psychological evaluation needs to be done, said William Thies, chief medical and scientific officer for the Chicago-based Alzheimer’s Association. Since people with Alzheimer’s are more likely to suffer a debilitating fall than healthy peers, this simple observation may help patients get the right care and prevent injury and disability.

Has anyone else noticed Romney's gait?

But his verbal responses have me thinking he may have the beginning of Alzheimer's or dementia.

I don't want to get into remote amateur medical diagnoses; I am content to assume Mittens is just an arrogant, isolated dick.

Plus he is trying to make sure the papers all remain the same size in him. He just hates anything that aren't the right height.

what donuts were made me suspicious but then that could just be that he is an out of touch elitist. But I have been thinking the same thing as you. The debates are going to be really interesting. Will he have a brain fart like the skanky Jan Brewer had during her debate. And the people of Arizona actually reelected her!

Romney can't seem to remember what his position is on the issues:

Nor can he accurately recall how he filed his income tax in 2002

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/ns/msnbc_tv-rachel_maddow_show/#48497173

He is also experiencing trouble comprehending written and spoken words:
Example #1:
http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2012/08/04/640491/romney-smears-obama-falsely-claims-he-filed-lawsuit-to-restrict-military-voting-in-ohio/
Lawsuit by Obama administration says:
"Plaintiffs bring this lawsuit to restore in-person early voting for all Ohioans during the three days prior to Election Day "

Romney interprets that to mean:
"President Obama’s lawsuit claiming it is unconstitutional for Ohio to allow servicemen and women extended early voting privileges during the state’s early voting period is an outrage."

Example #2:
http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2011/11/21/374147/breaking-first-romney-tv-ad-falsely-presents-mccain-campaign-quote-as-obamas/
President Obama says:
"Sen. McCain's campaign actually said, and I quote, ‘If we keep talking about the economy, we're going to lose.’"

Romney interprets that as Obama saying:
"If we keep talking about the economy, we're going to lose.’"

Politifact rates Romney's ad as "Pants on Fire"
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2011/nov/22/mitt-romney/mitt-romney-says-obama-said-if-we-keep-talking-abo/
Washington Post and Factcheck.org also gave it a thumbs down but were more concerned with the deception with the health care line in the ad.

Example #3:
http://thinkprogress.org/media/2012/07/16/525181/conservatives-selectively-edit-obamas-speech-to-claim-he-hates-small-businesses/

Obama said
"If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.
The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together."

Romney claimed Obama said
“If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else did that.”

Politifact rates Ronmey's ad as as completely false.
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/jul/26/mitt-romney/putting-mitt-romneys-attacks-you-didnt-build-truth/

Again, Fackcheck.org criticized Romney's use of the out-of-context quote. Washington Post gave it three Pinnochios.

And Romney is getting very confused with the facts:
Chronicling Mitt's Mendacity (28 Volumes)
http://maddowblog.msnbc.com/_news/2012/08/03/13106907-chronicling-mitts-mendacity-vol-xxviii?lite

Mitt Romney is a very sick man.

He is so completely self-centered that he is out of touch with the real world.

He has no idea how most people live and how he affects people. And he simply doesn't care.

Could his apparent lack of mental prowess be the result of injuries sustained long ago, in that fatality car crash when he was in France? It was reported that he nearly died. I don't remember reading the report enough to know whether his brain was affected in that incident, or not.

But, then again, he may have always been a little strange, as evidenced by the tales of his prep school days.

So,
Most of his comments and attitude seem to be pretty classical CEO arrogance.

He may be a sociopath (lots of successful business people are), but there's nothing medically wrong with him.

I'm a masshole, we had him. He just doesn't get it.
