How would President Hillary Clinton shut down House investigative committees?

Yes, Benghazi is pure BullShit. That does not mean that the President has the authority to stop the legislative branch from holding investigations into it.

If there is some reasonable way for her to make good on this statement I would sure love to hear it.

^snip^

“This committee was set up, as they have admitted, for the purpose of making a partisan political issue out of the deaths of four Americans,” an angry Clinton said during the town hall-style interview in New Hampshire. “I would never have done that, and if I were president and there were Republicans or Democrats thinking about that, I would have done everything to shut it down.”

If anything, the rethugs will open a dozen more investigations.... And keep them going an entire Clinton presidency.

Or is she going to woo them with boxes of cleaning supplies and feminine products?

OK. What pressure is she going to put on republicans to play nice? Unless you have a serious answer, then yes it's a joke.

The serious answer is that Clinton made a statement of intent or aspiration -- just as any and all candidates do when campaigning.

Lots of people who have been dissatisfied with Barack Obama have long proposed that the president had exhaustive powers to pressure John Boehner and the GOP house to bend them to his (Obama's) will. They excoriated the president for not tapping these hidden powers and invoking the magical "bully pulpit".

Does that sound like anyone you might know?

REASON FOR ALERT

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS

Good grief! This is what gives Sanders supporters a bad name. Bernie is better than her on EVERY issue, so attacking her gender is disgusting and something that should be left to the troglodytes of Faux. Please hide this nonsense.

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Mon Oct 5, 2015, 07:33 PM, and the Jury voted 3-4 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE

Juror #2 voted to HIDE IT

Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE

Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT

Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Horribly offensive to women.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No, alerter, you're wrong. Not a reference to her gender. It's a reference to the Clinton campaign sending gift boxes of feminine products and cleaning supplies to supporters that sign up for a surprise box. The sexism here doesn't belong to Sanders' supporters...it's the Clinton campaign's.

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

She is well aware that not political pressure or anything a President can do will not control what they do. Whitewater, Monica ring a bell? Bill was extremely popular and he couldn't stop those and it was always clear that those were partisan political issues .

We Americans should not have to suffer through their fucking petty games. A six year old could read a newspaper with the Bengazi crap in it and realize that not a fucking thing she did was wrong. That being said, this is pandering of the lowest sort, or to be generous wishful thinking on her behalf. She knows full well how it works.
