Just how damned far right does this country to shift before we just flat get too pissed off to be calmed down and INSIST that reason and tolerance, not ignorance and fear, guide our nation?

In the past decade, we have regressed to a point where we no longer know whether or not it is OK to torture people---This is (was?) the United States of America, people! We have also decided---by our acquiescence---that the Geneva Conventions are merely "quaint" and that the Constitution is just a "goddam piece of paper!"

We did not raise hell when they came after a woman's right to choose, so, now, they are coming after BIRTH CONTROL!

Blatant racism is apparently now OK as long as the source cites "state's rights" and doesn't use "the N word".

And, did you ever believe that rational adults would discuss whether or not corporations are people?

If some political commentator would have suggested just a decade so ago that these degradations would be visited on the American people WITHOUT ANY COMPLAINT, that person would have been laughed out of a job.

OWS is a start, but, despite what some here have maintained, we are going to have to put some "meat in the street" if we intend to stop the slide toward total corporatism and corporatism was Mr. Mussolini's term for fascism.

because OWS is ongoing whether or not they're allowed to camp. They're still marching, still having GA's to work out details, still feeding people, and basically still there in the dead of winter. I think either this will absolutely explode this spring or fizzle by May and I don't honestly think it's going to fizzle.

There is now a pretty hard core forming in this thing and what they're doing is figuring out how to go forward when the weather gets better and more people are able and willing to get the hell out there and SCREAM over what's been done to them.

Noam Chomsky in particular often refers to polls that dispute that the majority of Americans are conservative and right leaning. Like the majority of us are anti-war, pro same sex, pro Roe v. Wade and want less military spending. And more tolerance on pot and stupid jail sentences.

It's the "leadership" and corporate MSM that wants this stuff. The majority of us don't!

Many of us realize that "The Powers that Be" are driving this earth off a cliff in the name of greed.
