Put up or shut up - if republicans are so concerned about people on welfare not working,

let's see them vote for providing government jobs. Start by doubling the budget for VISTA and go from there!

How about a new model CCC for recent high school grads?

for states to try to figure out alternative plans to get people from welfare to work, now would be that time IMHO. It seems to me that states can and should be creative in figuring out how to tweak their programs so as to help more people. Nobody is calling for people to just sit on their butts and get welfare checks. We had that debate back in 1996 and it was decided that that was going to end but, given how awful the economy is right now, allowing states to find other reasonable ways for people to satisfy the work requirement seems perfectly sensible. Of course, it would help if our "job creators" better manage their "confidence" and "uncertainty" crises so that they can get off their butts and start creating more jobs to move people into from being on welfare.

govt. jobs like congressman or congresswoman. Or maybe have the welfare people only work as many hours as congress works. That should be kind of easy to do. How many hours do our congressional critters actually work?

And what is their pay?

and how much an hour would that be?

I think that would be welfare to give someone that much money for such few hours. Eh?

No, you must make the penny pinching Republican rich hire new workers at their slave factories for pennies. That is the only jobs number Repubs will accept, because they are GIANT HYPOCRITICAL LIARS!! They cut public jobs with one hand while they demand job growth with the other. See how the Dems are failing to make jobs (if you eliminate the one set of jobs under their control) Ha ha vote RMoney. We promise (again) there will be jobs once you elect us! (again) Of course the record shows otherwise...
