Despite his wishes, Donald Trump will not be among the featured speakers at the Republican National Convention, sources confirmed Thursday.

Trump had been fueling talk that he was going to get a coveted speaking slot during the GOP lovefest later this month — but his team claims he will still play a “major role” in Tampa.

Trump, who flirted with his own presidential run last year, consulted with Mitt Romney’s staff to create a special, secret job for the publicity-hungry real estate mogul at the convention.

“While I am not at liberty to disclose the specifics of Mr. Trump’s time at the RNC,” said the reality television star’s spokesman Michael Cohen, “I can say he will be playing a major role and was happy to honor Gov. Romney’s request to participate in the Tampa convention.”
