Rahm Emanuel endorses Hillary Clinton for 2016

Emanuel, who also served as a senior adviser to President Bill Clinton and went on to hold a seat in Congress, endorsed Obama over Hillary Clinton in the bruising 2008 presidential primary.

The mayor said when he worked with the former secretary of state in the White House he saw what an “effective leader” she was. He added: “I’ve seen firsthand how Hillary has inspired women and men, and girls and boys, here in America and across the globe, and I know that as president, she would continue to move our country forward.”

Several other Democratic allies have already begun to rally around Hillary Clinton, including Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia (who endorsed Obama in 2008) last weekend. Kaine, a former governor and Democratic National Committee chairman, is considered by some politicos as a possible vice presidential pick, should the former first lady run.

In June 2013, Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri (who also backed Obama in 2008) became the first sitting member of Congress to endorse Hillary Clinton. Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York followed suit in November of 2013. Schumer, Hillary Clinton’s former colleague in the upper chamber of Congress, made the endorsement announcement at an Iowa Democratic Party dinner, declaring: “It’s time for a woman to be president.” And last fall, all of the Democratic women in the Senate signed a letter privately urging Clinton to run.

Rahm shows Hillary how to tame the left
By EDWARD-ISAAC DOVERE 04/09/15 07:43 AM EDT

Although a presidential race will mean everyone’s paying a lot more attention to every position Clinton takes and every element of her record, she’s not expected to have a progressive primary opponent such as Elizabeth Warren to draw off votes. Unlike Emanuel, she’ll also have a Republican opponent, one elected out of a field that’s sure to produce a candidate progressives won’t be able to stand and will rally against even if their hearts aren’t with Clinton.

But it’s clear that progressives are less than enthusiastic about Clinton, and unions and other lefty groups are likely to start popping off soon about how this really might be the year when they’ll sit out, or vote for someone else.

“This is a new era. There is a much more progressive bench of this party, and the energy of this party is in the progressive party. That is going to be the key to voter turnout and voter engagement in 2016,” Dean said.

Why liberals will be glad to see Rahm Emanuel go.
Slate
By David Weigel

This is the kind of stuff liberals are used to hearing about Emanuel. If it ever impressed them, it doesn't anymore. After two years of Emanuel, they are convinced that he was a paper tiger, a hack who never missed a chance to weaken the progressive agenda and a man whose toughness never translated to big, meaningful victories over Republicans.

"I thought we'd get the guy who busted balls in the House," says Markos Moulitsas, the founder of Daily Kos, one of many online salons of anti-Rahm sentiment. "Instead, we got a White House more obsessed with getting [Wyoming Republican Sen. Mike] Enzi aboard the health care reform plan than on passing the best possible legislation and doing whatever it took to make it happen."

Arrogant little Rat bastard has to be one of Chicago's worst Mayors - ever. He has also been seen palling around, drinking and golfing with the WORST GOVERNOR ILLINOIS HAS EVER HAD, Tea Bagger Rauner, who bought the election. Another rat bastard who's trying his best to turn us into Kansas a la rat bastard Brownback.

Hillary can have Rahm! All of him. Take him out of the state, PLEASE. I DETEST EMANUEL. Absolutely detest him and I cannot be alone.

A WHOLE lot of people (Democrats) can't STAND Rahm Emmanuel. He should keep his endorsements to himself. He's not doing her any favors.

And before anyone accuses me of being anti-Hillary, yea I'm for Bernie but if he isn't the nominee, Hillary IS getting my vote!

Hillary is just wrapping up her fake email scandal and Rahm the "Chicago Shill" is beginning his real email scandal.

God, this thing can't take him out fast enough! Of course, Obama could fuck things up for Chicago a third time by coming here again, play stand by your man, and mug for the cameras with Rahm.

Rahm is no friend of yours, dude.
