So any protests inside are from Paulbots, teabaggers and the like.

Outside the convention, there are several parades that have been permitted... I don't know details.
Occupiers have a "Romneyville" camp, which the city tried to eliminate. Apparently, eviction can't begin less than 21 days after filing, and that time period doesn't expire until after the convention.

Police presence will be heavy. They are making a public claim that they won't violate civil rights, but that remains to be seen. Safe to assume any sort of unauthorized assembly or civil disobedience will be met with unreasonable force and mass arrests.
