Another big difference between Bernie and Hillary.

Only Bernie has highlighted privacy, digital rights, mass surveillance and net neutrality as important issues.

In an online Q&A, Bernie said:

Question: Do you think that wiretapping of American citizens is necessary for security of America and Americans? — reddit user “GavinraraFonara”

Answer (Bernie): I voted against the USA Patriot Act and voted against reauthorizing the USA Patriot Act. Obviously, terrorism is a serious threat to this country and we must do everything that we can to prevent attacks here and around the world. I believe strongly that we can protect our people without undermining our constitutional rights and I worry very very much about the huge attacks on privacy that we have seen in recent years—both from the government and from the private sector. I worry that we are moving toward an Orwellian society and this is something I will oppose as vigorously as I can.

Presumptive Democratic presidential candidate voices support for Title II

"Hillary Clinton said at a Silicon Valley conference for women leaders Tuesday [back in February] that she supports President Barack Obama’s call for the strongest possible rules to safe guard net neutrality.

That includes, Clinton said, reclassifying broadband providers under what’s known as Title II of the Communications Act, the most controversial option available to the government. It’s the first time the presumptive Democratic presidential candidate has voiced support for the Title II option."

You forgot the link so let me help you out: http://time.com/3721452/hillary-clinton-net-neutrality/

Not much of an article but it does depict her ambiguous answers to questions :

Clinton was most precise in her policy position about whether the Federal Communications Commissions (FCC) should reclassify broadband providers under Title II of the Communications Act—a controversial move that puts Internet companies in the same category as more highly-regulated industries, like mobile phone companies and public utilities.

“For the FCC to… create net neutrality as the norm, they have to have a hook to hang it on,” Clinton said. “[Title II] is the only hook they’ve got.” The FCC will vote Thursday on whether to use Title II to regulate net neutrality rules.

With regards to former National Security Agency (NSA) contractor Edward Snowden, Clinton acknowledged that while she can’t condone his decision to leak secret documents about the agency’s surveillance programs, she said her own position is mixed. She called on the NSA to be more transparent with the public—”I think a lot of the reaction about the NSA was that people felt betrayed,” she explained—but added later that some surveillance is necessary. “I do want to get the bad guys,” she said.

As for the threat of ISIS in the Middle East, Clinton said she supports the Obama administration’s efforts against the Islamist militant group. “I think the right moves are being made,” she said, before underscoring the complexity of the issue. “It’s a very hard challenge because you can’t very well put American or Western troops in to fight this organism. You have to use not only air force but also army soldiers form the region, and particular from Iraq.”

No matter how swell a guy Bernie is, a Socialist is NOT going to win a General Election. People, the GOP are masters at messaging and they will eviscerate Bernie in a General saying nothing but Socialist, Socialist, Socialist.

Polls show a majority of Americans don't think socialism is a dirty word. Poll after poll show Bernie doing better at getting votes from crossover and independent voters.

Please keep up, the new memes are racism and misogyny.

for a Socialist, Bernie just has to get 95% of the rest. Should be easy, unless he runs against someone who isn't a socialist.

You're ignoring the facts. Bernie has REPUBLICAN APPEAL and there are lots of Republicans who support him. Why do you think he polls better in a general than Hillary does, he has the indy vote and has Republican voter support.
In fact, some of those Republican Bernie supporters are now starting to make themselves known here on DU.
Hillary meanwhile has more baggage than Samsonite can produce, decades worth of it, literally. She's the most polarizing person in politics.

It is complete b.s. to say that a socialist can't be elected in America this time. If the Shillary supporters would put all their weight into supporting Bernie, it could be done easily.

Once he wins the primary, it's going to be funny to see if you'll all do exactly that.

It can be done and it's not a longshot either.
