It's Mental Ben's truly insane views that are really awful, moreso than his possible lies.

Maybe Mental Ben Carson intentionally lied, or at least embellished, episodes from his past in his books, but what the media should really be talking about in a big way are his truly insane statements about slavery, pyramids as grain silos, insane policy ideas, a complete and utter lack of experience or qualification to be President of the United States... If you read his ghost written book Gifted Hands, it's all about how he sees himself as some instrument of God on Earth. I thought this was supposed to be a man of science. He may be a good doctor, but how in hell is this guy anywhere near presidential material? In fact, Mental Ben is just that. Mental.

He isn't Donald Trump insane. Donald Trump probably does not have a mental illness I am not saying he doesn't have mental issues he does, but he has a grasp at least a tenuous grasp on reality. Ben Carson on the other hand is in serious need of an intervention, but instead of getting that he is surrounded by people who nod their heads in agreement. And none of them are at all concerned about his well being.

He really believes some "crazy" stuff. THIS is what the media should be talking about.

I think he is clinical. His body posture is "off". He has a tendency to talk about wild fantasies. His speech is very slow almost slurred as if he is on some kind of medication. I think from the stuff he says he is clearly out of touch with reality. He tells stories of being violent yet, there is no evidence to support those stories. He is almost begging for help. I don't think anyone is listening. On the other hand I think his crazed way of talking is insulating him from criticism and ridicule to an extent because no one wants to pick on someone who has issues like that. Well that is what stops me.

But I think his ego tells him that he's superior the way he is and doesn't need them.

He needs an intervention by his senior staff. They need to look hard at the horse to which they've hitched themselves.

Ben Carson is cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs and should never ever get within miles of the White House.

And he will likely win Iowa because the GOP delegates there are just as barking crazy and delusional.

This country is in big trouble because the majority of state legislatures and governorships and the US House of Representatives and the US Senate are in the hands of people who think just like Ben Carson. That is fucking why he is now ahead of the pack!

The reason? Because Democrats do not vote except in presidential election years. 31% turnout is not good enough to upset the KY governorship.

Meanwhile we have fucking idiots here on DU who post that if Bernie/Hillary (you choose) does not get the nomination, they will not vote, or will write in.

This is why we are losing everywhere but the a White House. And I have some advice for you all. The presidency which has to fight virtually all the rest of government entities is inevitably going to be fairly feckless.

Regardless, I think Obama has done fairly well in spite of his initial abject naïveté.

We are hanging by our fingernails here. That is why we have to stay united. Infighting does nothing but repress our vote, which is already a rather huge problem with our party.

Look more to the long term and realize that a president has very limited powers without any other legislative or judicial support. The former is now lost (to outright lunatics) and the latter is right on the edge.

So play your two year old games here about Bernie vs Hillary, but 2016 may be the most important election of my long life. And right now I don't much care who gets the Dem nomination for 2016. We do not have a clinker in the bunch. Yes, I have a preference, but I will not divulge it here on DU because this all too long primary season has turned into a infantile vat of necrotizing fasciitis which I would prefer not to plunge into.

An OP I put up several months back talks about what a Democratic politician who is in it for a career should do.

I was hoping for someone to show me where I was wrong but I didn't see that.

what is astounding is they think the Presidency should be their first elected office. At least run for Senate first, geez.
