Related: About this forumEven At Its Best, Clinton Campaign Rests on a Promise of BETRAYAL

~snip~
Im not the only one who watched the debate last night and concluded This Was the Most Important Exchange of the Debate. Ive already voiced my displeasure with Hillary Clintons answer as to why we should think she wont be influenced by the millions of dollars shes received from big Wall Street interests. She tried to deflect attention away from this crucial question by reminding us that yes, she has donors who are women and also 9/11.
~snip~
The very best we can hope for is this: After taking millions from Wall Street to run her campaign and to benefit herself and her family personally, Hillary Clinton is going to turn around once in the White House and rein in Wall Street even more aggressively than Senator Sanders or any other candidate. Think about that for a moment and maybe youll reach the same conclusion a friend of mine made on social media earlier today: Even if we are to believe her on this point, she is essentially promising her voters that shes going to eventually betray her major donors. You could even argue this is the central premise of her campaign. Yes, shes made millions speaking to them on Wall Street and she has to fund her Super PAC with money from them and yes, 83% of her campaign funds come from them in the form of maxed out donations, but once shes in the White House she promises to fight for us.
~snip~
Would any of us believe Marco or Ted or Jeb if they just promised us they wouldnt be influenced by all those Koch millions and big money donations? Do you really think theyre going to stab their donors in the back and fight for us? No, and we are right to distrust anyone who would make such a claim. Even if that person is a Democrat who is promising to betray them and not us.

Here's reality - if it were true you wouldn't need to mislead. Right?

kenfrequed
(7,865 posts)It actually tries to defend corporate donations by banks and Wallstreet by saying "oh no... it's the employees of those organizations and that makes it totally different." Labor unions are expecting something for donating to political candidates. Why are hedge fund managers that work for banks magically not expecting something in your opinion.
This article is bunk.

(14,177 posts)She just threw out a word salad then said 9/11. It was not an actual answer to the question. And since it's history we can put it in context of the Iraq war which came before the housing bubble popped and the economy crashed. And we can put it in context of the crash happening after the Iraq war. Which gained some popular support via the drum beat of fighting terrorism.

(7,006 posts)And Because a Economist says $12.00 a hour is a great wage, that's all it is. Also, because being a Woman allows a reference to 9/11 because its all about 9/11 for connecting to Wall Street....and stuff like that....

(27,835 posts)And I didn't need to look at any polls or surveys to know that.
I only had to come to DU and see the endless posts about how HRC is evil incarnate, a self-serving member of the 1%, bent on the destruction of the entire nation if it stands in the way of her insatiable lust for power.
At the same time, the "Bernie knocked it out of the park last night" posts are few and far between. That speaks for itself.
There is no better barometer for how well Hillary is connecting with voters than the acceleration of attacks against her right here on good ol' DemocraticUnderground.
So thanks for the update on Hill's continuing success!

I went to a site where only Democrats were welcome to join/post. It removed the aggravation of having to deal with RWers posing as Dems.

(4,389 posts)I thought that it was a classic GBCW OP but after doing some searching I found the locked thread where your definition of the word apologist was contested. It's someone else who made the GBCW announcement:
481. I just had a little chat with Nance...
...
Nance needs to take a break from DU for a while, but I have no doubt that she will be back and when she does come back I hope we can all welcome her back.

Interesting. And you're welcome.

She's obviously better than any 'pug, but why settle for just better than the worst?
Why let it go at tiny, trivial increments of change, when increments are useless?

(12,655 posts)i would love to see her (or any pol) do an about face and tell the corps to go screw. one way to get money influence out of politics is to overturn cu. another way is to take their money anyway and tell them to piss off. and then the money flow will slow down cuz their aint no prid pro quo.
this benefits the gop as well. every time they cower before their corp masters they look like the sniveling losers they are. time to break the stranglehold.

The only that seems better to me, is that the contrasts of what could be good and progressive to what is really just corporate hogwash. All them parts just seem so much more obvious.

(5,208 posts)Indebted to the wealthy. She cannot be trusted to push a middle class agenda. She has only come around to campaign on our issues because of the popularity of Elizabeth Warren and Bernie.
I believe she will do what the elite want her to do, regardless of the effects on the middle class.
She will betray someone and that someone will be us peasants.
Bernie walks the walk. I trust him.

(97 posts)I hadn't thought through so clearly why the whole thing doesn't make sense-
She is saying "don't worry, I will betray Wall Street's support- if the voters give me their support"
Why would we "impune her integrity"?. . . . because she is flat out telling us she is loyal to nobody.
