doesn't want to release any more of his tax returns?

(45,274 posts)that he's covering his escape from a felony by accepting the UBS amnesty. As a theory, it fits well with all the known facts, such as the missing sections of his 2010 returns.

Low tax rate, misuse of loop holes to down right tax fraud and evasion are on the list.
But yes, that 2009 tax amnesty may be the reason it's only two years that he supposedly will eventually show.

1. How do the Mormons feel about taking a tax deduction on the amount you've tithed? I know of a non-Morman who tithes and says his church frowns upon it as gaming the system. It's perfectly legitimate in the eyes of the US federal government, of course, but what about in the eyes of the Morman church government?
2. If the Romneys insist that they don't know how much money they have due to their blind trusts, how do they know they're tithing the proper amount?
3. Shouldn't the money the Romneys avoid paying in taxes be considered part of what they tithe? What if they've saved even MORE than they've tithed -- I can't see their church being happy about that!

(2 posts)Mitt has taken such incredible political damage for not releasing his taxes, I can think of no other reason. I tend to believe John McCain when he says that there was nothing "disqualifying" in the Romney returns his team saw, which were through the 2007 tax year.
Knowing that he was running for president, I also believe that Romney would not have introduced anything new and "disqualifying" into his 2008 and 2009 tax returns if at all possible.
Therefore, I believe that it had to be something horrible and unavoidable that got into the 2008 and/or 2009 returns. The 2009 tax amnesty is the only thing that I believe qualifies as horrible and unavoidable. The 2009 tax amnesty was unavoidable when the alternative to Mitt was rolling the dice and hoping that his name wasn't one of the 4,000+ tax avoiders UBS gave to the IRS. Even if his undisclosed Swiss accounts weren't with UBS, the winds of change must have scared Mitt for his political life that his Swiss accounts would be revealed.
Bottom line, I strongly believe Mitt is a felon. He committed the felonies of tax evasion, filing a false tax return, and filing a false FBAR. He is a crook.

This was something that came out during the primary- February, I think, maybe even February of 2011.
One of the Romney's accountants disclosed that Ann Romney had $3 million in a UBS account. I wish more of their 'help' would disclose more information about the tax stuff. They must pay them pretty well!
I don't have a link to support this assertion, but you can get a ton of info just by googling "Romney tax amnesty evasion."
I agree and think he could be considered a felon prior to applying for and receiving amnesty.

(2 posts)Just because Mitt received amnesty doesn't mean that he's no longer a felon. A felon is simply someone that has committed a felony. And Mitt committed the felonies of tax evasion, filing a false tax return, and filing a false FBAR.
Because of amnesty, Mitt will never be a "convicted" felon, but he'll always be a felon.
