The presidential contender beat out Oprah
Americans named Hillary Clinton the woman they admire most of anywhere in the world, a new poll found, for the 17th time in 18 years.
When Gallup asked a random sampling of Americans who is the living female they admire most, 12% named Clinton. The former Secretary of State was followed by Oprah Winfrey at 8% and Pakistani education activist Malala Yousafazi at 5%.

There is a meme going around here that Hillary is not liked by the rest of the county.

(11,417 posts)I knew someone would say that
It means given a list of names 12% of people picked Hillary
The shorter the list the higher her percentage would be.
But you stick to your world view
BTW where is Bernie on a list of men?

(11,417 posts)She was picked by 12% of those polled. They picked her over the other women.
If the number of women were lower her percentage would be higher
Get it?

(42,862 posts)... percentages mean. It's difficult for me to believe that ALL those people didn't get it, so I think they were just pulling your leg by playing dumb.

(39,909 posts)It all depends. A global statement that if the sample size were smaller, then Hillary would get a proportionate increase in her size of the vote.
This is absolute not true.
She may, or she may not, depending on the other choices.
If the poll says 12%....then it IS 12%.
Your rationalizations or hopes don't matter.

Don't try to turn this into a negative; that would be disingenuous.
By the way, Barack Obama has lead the list as the most admired man in the world for the 7th year in a row and he is at 19%. When you are talking about the entire world, there is a lot of competition out there. Hillary has lead the women's list the last 13 years in a row and 17 out of the last 18.
By the way, men's list includes 38 other men, including Pope Francis (6%), Bill Clinton (3%), Billy Graham (2%), Bill Gates (1%) and Steven Hacking (1%). It also includes several in the GOP field: Ben Carson (1%), Donald Trump, Mike Huckabee, and Ted Cruz (all less than 1% this year) Heck even Bill O'Reilly (1%), Dick Cheney and Rush Limbaugh (both less than 1%) made the list of the top 39 men.
By the way, can you guess where Bernie Sanders fell on the list of the top 39 men - that right, he wasn't on it.
Edit to add Link so you can see both lists for yourself: [link:http://www.gallup.com/poll/1678/Most-Admired-Man-Woman.aspx|Most Admired Man and Woman

(24,411 posts)...before the second debate, during which Hillary had the audacity to invoke 9/11--after she was asked about Wall Street raining a parade of money into her campaign coffers.

(11,417 posts)when Bernie was named the most popular Senator. He had a higher percentage of his constituents liking him than any other Senator had of their constituents.
Hillary's constituents were on Manhattan Island and they were her constituents on 9/11.
So being her constituents she helped them rebuild. Some of those folks work for Wall Street firms and some of those folks liked Hillary's helping them and today they still like her.
But unlike Bernie, Hillary's constituents are spawns of the devil so Hillary will screw all of us because she represented spawns of the devil.

Do you ever get tired? Do you ever just wish that your candidate didn't owe powerful interests...anything?

Right now HRC has 81 NO votes to only 19 YES.
Sanders enjoys the overall lead and has 78 YES votes and only 22 NO.
