Fareed Zakaria (CNN) had an interesting spin on the "are you better off" meme -

"Will you be better off in four years?" And makes a case that the party seen as the more optimistic for the future often wins the Presidency. He clearly feels that's the Democratic Party.

Not a thing optimistic in repugs' convention (and campaign,) and almost nothig BUT optimism among Democrats.

The rePIGs started pushing their trickle-down economics about that time and those who have lived through these years should be able to give us the benefit of their experience regarding this idea. I believe it's time to draw some conclusion on the theory and hold people responsible for the result(s).
