Mia Love: Making abortion illegal & birth control less affordable will create “more free choice"

Sep 9, 2012 at 5:00 pm

Small town Mayor Mia Love (R-UT), a GOP congressional candidate who received a speaking slot at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, is considered a rising star by many within her party. Yet she offered a defense of the Republican Party’s plans to roll back reproductive freedom on Fox News Sunday today that takes a significant amount of liberty with the English language. In a discussion about the GOP’s plan to make abortion illegal, defund Planned Parenthood and enable employers to restrict their employees’ access to birth control, Love suggested these policies will lead to “more free choice and more liberties” for women.

I think she is too young and too uninformed to understand what life would be like for women if there there was no access to 'safe' abortion and/or affordable contraception.

I am disgusted that a 'woman' would get on national TV and spew such nonsense!

This year Democrats took away from the republicans: the 'USA chant, flag waving, foreign policy cred, thanking Our Troops for their service, etc.

Now we must take the word 'freedom' away from the Republicans by starting to talk on national TV about what REAL freedom is !!!

or she's had intensive training at one of the Koch brothers' funded boot camps for right wing cranks. I suspect it's the latter. She's spewing utter codswallop because that's what buys her daily bread.

as an example of somebody (along with Allen West and Clarence Thomas) who is vilified by the left because she has strayed from "the plantation". I didn't know who she was until now. I said that I didn't think that it was right to vilify somebody just on the basis of race/political affiliation but that there are plenty of other policy- and behavior- based reasons to rightly criticize them on- just like Love.
