(13,200 posts)She is the source of the politicization of this group.
But I'm not holding my breath. Folks from the Bush Administration rarely just go away on their own.

(22,756 posts)claiming it wasn't political til her dying breath... the abortion issue is political and it was entirely about Planned Parenthoods involvement with abortions... no matter who implemented it and when

(1,942 posts)With or without her, they lost me after the Planned Parenthood debacle, and after learning of the Pink Gun, which I really thought was straight out of the Onion. A pink handgun! Really! Come on! Why not a pink Uzi?
Besides, I hate pink...
I will save any extra money for Planned Parenthood directly.

(26,549 posts)They also claim to not have received any money from the pink gun manufacturer.
Ignoring that, there's plenty of reasons to not support Komen.

(10,952 posts)From Handel's resignation letter:
"... Rather, both were based on Komens mission and how to better serve women, as well as a realization of the need to distance Komen from controversy..."
Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think that Komen was involved in any contoversy with Planned Parenthood until they pulled this bonehead move.
Ultraconservatives are not always the brightest brick in the room.

(26,549 posts)Komen was Brinker's sister. Brinker started the charity to honor her sister. She's not gonna quit.

(5,029 posts)It just gives the press a reason to drop the story. The rest of the board are GOP donors and anti-abortion nuts too. Plus their tactics of suing charities who use pink the the word "cure" is obscene and the fact that they cut of funding for stem cell research indicates a pattern that the PP fiasco was not a one time mistake. I'll never support them again.
