Edited to add video trailer:

Noted documentary filmmaker Michael Moore is coming out with a new film called Where to Invade Next and it sounds awesome. It is getting phenomenal early reviews, and Moore wants to distribute it in a very unique way:
So Moore asked his distributors to get on board with a release plan designed to rock the nation: I said . give me a month or so to barnstorm the country, me personally, in a big rock n roll tour bus, and we will criss-cross the country showing the film for free, leading up to the New Hampshire primary because the issues in the film are the issues, the real issues, people want being discussed in this election year. They may also have music and rallies along the way.

The early part of the movie demonstrates how the United States hasnt won a war since WWII, and comically envisions the U.S. taking over countries just to take their good ideas! The next part sounds VERY Bernie-like to me:
In a brilliant move, Moore has made his most patriotic film yet without shooting a single frame in the United States.

My guess is it will be a net gain for Sanders provided Mike isn't all over the
news endorsing Sanders. Then it may not play out well.

This is going to be big for his campaign.

Really, if you're going to say "who will be convinced who isn't already convinced," you could say the same thing about any more ads, any more debates, etc. By that logic, Hillary and Bernie should both lay off their staff, cut the ads, and just stay home until November.

(11,945 posts)which is excellent. This is a communication strategy that is somewhat lacking in Bernie's messaging; it takes time to illustrate the main points with real life examples -- which film does so well.
I'm very happy Michael Moore is doing this and believe it will be most effective without obvious proselytizing for Sanders.
Thanks for posting this, Segami!

(2,642 posts)This action would be a very close Parallel to what Citizens United wanted to do that led to the Supreme Court case.
The only way Moore can do this is because of Citizens United, a ruling he, Bernard, and Hillary have all railed against.
So if he does this, it will be hilarious just for the hypocrisy.
Other than that, he's still a shitty movie maker hated by most of the country. So yeah.

(46,179 posts)Many of us are sickened and exhausted by lesser evil votes, clothespin votes, always voting AGAINST because what we want to vote FOR simply isn't on the ballot, or because we've been bullied and pushed by fear into that "against" vote.
I can't wait to see this film, although I doubt Moore will be bringing it close enough to my town to see it early.

(8,267 posts)in her paean to Michael Moore and this movie--which I intend to see as soon as it's released--is the assertion that Bush won a second term. I distinctly remember going to bed at about 11:30 pm, after the polls indicated that John Kerry would be our next president. I was stunned and dismayed the next morning, when all the news shows were touting the reelection of the worst president we've ever known.
Go BERNIE!!!

(15,435 posts)I live in Florida and when they called Florida for Gore, they TV went directly to the Bush compound and I SAW the weird look on Bush's face, the whole family in fact!
Then I was watching online the county by county returns that were coming in... Votes started flipping even in Democratic counties!
I saved this data on a CD disc after the election, it's somewhere around here, but the county by county voting blew me away!
HE DID NOT WIN FLORIDA! I will go to my death bed KNOWING THIS!

(8,267 posts)for the corporate oligarchs are getting ever more bold in their thefts!
This is the primary reason I have ZERO respect for HRC. I cannot fathom how ANYBODY remains ignorant of the damages done to us and our nation by the corporate megalomaniacs!
I just watched "The Corporation" (free on utube), and I will remain hopeful, because the film highlights recent massive protests that resulted in the changes for which the brave activists were advocating. We CAN effect change in our nation--change for the betterment of our younglings, who deserve so much more than a corrupt, corporatist fascist regime.

(15,435 posts)I'll need to watch it. I DO NOT understand the logic of electing a person male or female that is so extremely connected to what IS ALREADY ruining this country!!
I'm a female and hear "some" women say "don't you want to elect the FIRST female POTUS?" My first answer si WHY? Then I complete my reasoning by saying, yes that would be nice, BUT it has to be a woman I feel who will represent "we the people" better than any other male. Be he black, white, hispanic, asian etc. It just blows me away that a person will vote for a female SIMPLY because she's a female!
We're already considered an Oligarchy by many countries (Jimmy Carter says we are) so why keep sliding further into this type of Government? If we don't start making the switch back to DEMOCRACY, what's next option? Maybe we can go back to having a King and Queen and we'll be the serfs again!
