2016 prediction: Hillary Clinton will win, appoint Barack Obama to high court -- Carl P. Leubsdorf
CARL P. LEUBSDORF The Dallas Morning News 5 hrs ago 5
DALLAS Its time to forget last years forecast that Rand Paul would lead the Republican field and look ahead at whats to come in 2016................................
..........OCTOBER: Ryan announces neutrality in presidential race. In final debate, Clinton, 68, calls Romney, 69, and Trump, 70, voices of the past.
NOVEMBER: Cubs capture their first World Series since 1908! Clinton wins presidency, beating Bills numbers with 45 percent to Trumps 36 and Romneys 19. She carries Ohio, Florida and heavily Hispanic Western states, gaining 403 electoral votes. Trump has 129. Romney carries Utah. Trump claims disrespect. Democrats defeat all six Senate Republicans backing Romney, gaining 52-48 majority. GOP loses 26 House seats, retaining slim 221-214 majority.
DECEMBER: In unity bid, President-elect Clinton offers Trump a job as trade representative and for Romney, the ambassadorship to Russia. Both refuse. Republican Chairman Reince Priebus forms a committee to examine GOP future. Outgoing VP Joe Biden is named Secretary of State. U.S. and Russia push for a Syria unity conference. Clinton picks outgoing Obama for Scalias Supreme Court seat. Ryan resumes Ways and Means Committee chair, and the House GOP deadlocks on a new speaker.

(10,144 posts)away from Trump and Cruz is not so far fetched. Would they pick Jebbie or Mitt? The shit fits from Trump and Cruz would be priceless. Personally I predict Ted Cruz will lead the GOP to a defeat of Goldwater magnitude.

(20,886 posts)I think he's tired and wants to spend time with his family.
My prediction is, he will be the least visible past President in our lifetime.
P.S. Don't blame him.

(297,196 posts)After he leaves the White House, friends say the president will return to his passion: helping African Americans through his My Brother's Keeper Alliance.
What is in Barack Obamas heart? Underneath that cool exterior, it can be hard to tell. When he leaves office in 2017, he will be a fit 55-year-old with decades of productive life likely ahead of him. How will he use them?
I went to the Bronx on Monday with a hunch that Obama was about to tell us; and I wasnt disappointed.
At the risk of emphasizing his status as a lame duck, Obama announced the establishment of My Brothers Keeper Alliance, a nonprofit outgrowth of the My Brothers Keeper program in the White House that the president announced more than a year ago, with little fanfare from a jaded press and public.

Those who speculate President Obama won't be doing anything don't know him yet they act like they do.

(27,787 posts)He'd be helping African American kids AND causing the RW to twitch in apoplectic rage .... WIN WIN in my book!!

(10,524 posts)I don't care if he taught it. He voted for FISA and continues to support unrestrained surveillance, executive authority to assassinate US citizens without due process, etc.
If that's the Constitution, it's not one I recognize.
I'm not saying Obama's the worst Pres. we've had, but.
Whoever Bernie might appoint, I'm pretty sure I'd prefer them.
JoePhilly
(27,787 posts)Or that Obama has used the FISA court legally.
But hey ... if Bernie supporters want to attack Obama with this kind of nonsense, go for it.

(114,904 posts)No way she'll appoint Obama to the SCOTUS.
Motown_Johnny
(22,308 posts)The only possible reasoning behind that is that he will eclipse Bill Clinton in prestige within the party and Hillary doesn't want that to happen
That appointment would muzzle someone we need as a spokesperson and advocate for our "liberal agenda".
I would be fine with Michelle though.
