Fighting for us. For all of us. For more elected Democrats.
The numbers from the Hillary Clinton campaign for fundraising Q4 are out
An impressive haul and a major success for her. There is already a diary about this on the rec list so I will focus on a different aspect.
Lets put things into perspective here.
Clinton raised $37 million for her own election efforts AND she raised an extra $18 million dollars for downballot Democrats, helping the fundraising of the Democratic National Committee and state Democratic Parties. For perspective, the biggest fundraiser for the GOP in Q4 (Cruz) raised $19 million for his campaign.
So
Hillary Clinton has raised as much as the biggest fundraiser on the GOP side FOR DOWNBALLOT DEMORCATS. The goal of this website is to elect more and better Democrats. Our frontrunner is doing her damndest best to spearhead that effort. She has been doing it since August................
I am proud of Hillary Clinton!.............................

The entire amount shouldn't be described as being for "downballot Democrats."

(146,288 posts)many congressional endorsements. She has positive relationships with many in Congress and helping them win their races in 2016 will help cement those relationships. No President can succeed without support in Congress. Strong, positive relationships are crucial, especially with delicate legislation that depends on enthusiastic support.
That congressional support and the strong endorsements are a major reason why I believe she is the odds-on favorite for the nomination. It's hard to imagine a more important factor, really. People generally like their own congressional representatives, so what a House member says about a candidate carries quite a bit of weight in their own district.
Those relationships and that support are powerful assets for any presidential candidate.

(30,736 posts)Hillary has been building relationships and coalitions for years.
It's not only that we like our own congressional reps (unless the are republicans), many of us know them, too. We have worked for their elections, visited their offices, attended their events. They are often the most accessible of the federal electees. (I am lucky. One of my Senators is Durbin. He is one of the most accessible Senators I have ever seen).
Even at my own level, with my paltry contributions and activism, I know people. I know people every where in the state, because I have helped Democrats.
