2016 Postmortem

waiting to be thrown under the bus has extended around several city blocks by this time. Metro Transit needs to call in more buses to cut down on the wait, I think. It's shocking that so few buses are available for all of those people waiting.
The state of public bus transportation in this country is execrable.

(2,546 posts)Its ALL background and voters completely disregard it. Leon Panetta.. I mean explicitly endorsing Hillary... I mean come on... Like Ole Leon was not on board with this as soon as he exited his Limo on inauguration day 1/20/2009? A TOTAL Joke!

(146,288 posts)to be worth hearing. It's not just him, though. The line of prominent Democrats who are endorsing Hillary Clinton is quite a long one. People do listen to others when deciding for whom to vote. That's especially true of members of Congress, who usually have great respect from their constituents.
Endorsements by people in political office don't win elections, but they don't hurt, either. They have played important roles in past presidential elections, and will have an impact in this one, as well.

(7,231 posts)Edit: those who feel abandoned by the elite may still engage in actions to let the elite know they feel abandoned. But the elite isn't that big - no extra buses are needed to accomodate the elite, if they intend to throw themselves before or under that bus in pursuit of Clinton's status quo candidacy.
Yes, it's amazing how many hitherto great organisations are thrown, by their elite leaders, in front of Bernie's campaign bus. It's almost like they are desperate to slow down Bernie's campaign...

I'm not talking about Bernie Sanders, though. He's not throwing anyone under any buses.
Edit: Since you edited your post, I'm taking an opportunity to acknowledge your edit.

Cynicism does not make a person more interesting, and it certainly does make a poor basis for choosing someone to follow.

(114,904 posts)Disagreement is not throwing under the bus.
I do love how you threw Bernie under the bus though, even when you were "supporting" him. And your cute protestations about how you like him, are transparent. You've even used the right wing line about "free stuff" against him. Remember your post about how Bernie reminds you of the guy running for class president who promises naked cheerleaders and free ice cream? And that was during your "support" phase.

(146,288 posts)I thought it was interesting that not many Sanders supporters offered to throw him under the bus. So many House and Senate members have already endorsed Hillary. Surely not all of them are DINOS or anything of the sort.
Some say that those endorsements don't mean anything. I say they're incorrect in that. People tend to like members of Congress who are members of their own party. Their endorsements carry some weight with their constituents.
That factor is going unrecognized, I believe, and there are many primaries to go before we see what the voting public actually thinks. Iowa and NH send few delegates to the national convention. There are many more states to go after February. They are the ones that will decide who the nominee will be.

I am told that it is a conspiracy by a few people in charge who get good deals from the Clinton Campaign, that it is all political cronyism.

(146,288 posts)Just as an aside, though, the plural of "bus" is "buses." "Busses" means more than one "kiss." Buses means more than one bus.
Frankly, I'm more fond of busses than buses, generally.

(5,018 posts)Anyone who endorses her will unsurprisingly hurt progressives who care deeply about and have stakes in those positions. Not surprising.
To me, it's sad that many progressive organizations feel they must endorse a corporate candidate whose biggest donors are giant banks that actively work against a lot of what being progressive is about, because of the correct perception that Clinton will win, and if they want to help their individual cause, they better get on board how, even if she is the corporate candidate. She's a million times better than the Republican candidate, and our political system seems to only give the choice of corporate moderate conservative and extremist conservative.
