2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumGee...looks like the Sanders campaign is "nervous" as well...
Just got this email from the Sanders campaign:
Brothers and Sisters,
Can you imagine how you'll feel on the night of the Iowa caucuses if it turns out Bernie comes up just short? After all weve accomplished together against impossible odds it'd be devastating.
With your support Bernie has brought us within striking distance of winning. But the new NBC poll released just this morning shows we still have critical ground to make up in Iowa.
Now, I suppose this could just be hype to encourage contributions, but apparently the Sanders campaign doesn't resort to cheap political tactics?

(12,041 posts)It is far from clear who is going to win, neither campaign is inevitable and they can't take anything for granted. We have a much tighter election than many realize and both sides have plenty of reasons to be nervous.

(5,122 posts)Bernie has always been nervous about his odds and never called himself "Inevitable". He knew it was an uphill battle.
Being at the top now, he must be psyched. Nothing is inevitable anymore.

Fortunately my state Democratic party is unequivocally pro-legalization, so I will gladly support them.

you know it too.

(6,900 posts)Bernie has spent his whole life in politics. He raised $7.23 million between 2007 and 2012 and spent only $3.25 million towards the 2012 election. He knows how to get contributions.

I'm sure Sanders campaign is nervous. It's a tightening race.

(46,179 posts)to read that whole message. It didn't seem "nervous" to me; it seemed like a fairly standard request for a donation. It would be shocking if Sanders' campaign weren't asking, since it depends on small individual donations.
The email also said:
But our campaign is funded by emails like these. Thats why your contribution today is so important.
I'm surprised that you'd be getting any emails from the Sanders campaign, since I didn't think you were a supporter. You are welcome to donate to Bernie, of course, if you are worried about the campaign.

(11,986 posts)Hillary was expected to win everything.
So they have opposite perspectives.
For Bernie to suggest that Hillary may win is an obvious truth.
For Hillary to suggest that Bernie may win means either she really thinks she may lose, or she's just using it as a tactic to bring in more contributions, take your choice.

(62,270 posts)They can't gain the momentum to win NV without both states, and SC is not happening. I see nothing wrong with this and it is in line with the true expectations of the campaign (and not the wide eyed aspirations of some supporters).
