Vox: "Bernie Sanders has an 11-point advantage over Hillary Clinton among voters under 35"

Bernie Sanders, the oldest candidate in the presidential race, is winning over the youngest voters.

A new poll of 18- to 35-year-olds from Rock the Vote and USA Today finds that they prefer Sanders to Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary, 46 percent to 35 percent...

The poll didn't ask about socialism specifically. But in December, the Harvard Institute of Politics released its own poll of 18- to 29-year-olds, and found that Sanders held a similar advantage over Clinton: 41 percent to 35 percent. Only 9 percent said Sanders's socialism made them less likely to vote for him.

It is offensive—as far as they're concerned it seems to be okay to just write off the whole future of the party.

- who else are you going to vote for?
- you are complacent (DWS)
- you are f*cking retarded (Rahm)
- We don't need your vote (Clinton's campaign)
- You just want a pony
- Now is not the right time for that (Obama's administration on gay rights, single payer, and a few more things in 2009)

Obama lost voters over 40 in 2012. Obama lost or tied voters over 40 in 2008.

Those "kids who don't vote" elected Obama twice.

2012:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election,_2012#Voter_demographics
Women and men basically canceled each other out. 18-24 and 25-29 were utterly dominated by Obama voters, while Romney barely won among 40+

2008:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election,_2008#Voter_demographics
Both genders voted for Obama. 40-65 were tied, 65+ went McCain. Again, 18-29 dominated by Obama.

31. And when there's a plurality on the opposite side of that demographic
Tue Jan 12, 2016, 02:04 PM
Jan 2016

what happens? It effectively cancels out the plurality. In 2012, Men voted for Romney as much as Women voted for Obama.

Now, go take a look at the plurality of under 39 voters, versus the slim majority among over 40 voters. Older voters did not go for Romney as much as younger voters went for Obama.

Your claim requires 60% to be smaller than 55%. You claim also requires not looking at the next entry in the table, where married women voted for Romney by 7 points.

Instead, you're claiming 55 is bigger than 60, and that men voting for Romney had no effect on the election. You're also not providing any reason why the most women who voted (more married women voted than unmarried) voted for Romney yet women were responsible for Obama's victory.
