Surprise, surprise: Topless feminist group actually run by a bro who loves hot women

Radical group Femen is mainly known for staging topless media stunts to protest oppression. And while they’ve been presented as a feminist female empowerment group, a new documentary revealed that the group is actually run by a man who happens to love hot topless women.

Victor Svyatski is listed as a consultant for the group, however filmmaker Kitty Green — who just completed the documentary “Ukraine is Not a Brothel” about the group — says that Svyatski is more of the mastermind behind the stunts.

Green told The Independent, “It’s his movement and he hand-picked the girls. He hand-picked the prettiest girls because the prettiest girls sell more papers. The prettiest girls get on the front page… that became their image, that became the way they sold the brand.”

While the public persona of the group touts female empowerment, Svyatski seems to believe the opposite. In the film he says, “These girls are weak.” He adds, “They don’t have the strength of character. They don’t even have the desire to be strong. Instead, they show submissiveness, spinelessness, lack of punctuality, and many other factors which prevent them from becoming political activists. These are qualities which it was essential to teach them.”

so, i wanted to do some research to see if feminists are really "picking on" men. you know. misandry. and this article popped up. how this article pops up with.... are men really being picked on by feminist, i do not know. maybe google was smirking.

but, i thought it clear and concise and would not hurt hof to have the article, the clearly defines the issue, written by a woman, to be posted in our group, though we talked about it in GD a while ago.

His kind brings out the worst in people....even me. I'd like to pop the MF up side the head.

PS: ah...I don't like his kind.

That's Tucker Carlson's rag. It wouldn't surprise me that he would want to smear a feminist group.

"bro" doesn't seem to fit.

However here is some commentary on your guy:
http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/sep/05/victory-svyatski-femen-man

This week I have been told that I'm not a feminist, that my fight is not real. I have been told that people don't believe my slogans any more, that my ideas are fake. I have been condemned for fighting male domination in my life, for fighting the patriarchy.

The Australian director Kitty Green spent one year with Femen activists in Ukraine shooting a documentary that is showing at the 70th Venice film festival. The film, Ukraine Is Not a Brothel, is a history of Femen. It shows a crucial paradox of the movement, one that has now become a scandal. It concerns one of the men interviewed in the film, Victor Svyatski, who proclaimed himself the leader of our feminist movement. It has become an unwelcome surprise for our supporters, and, of course, more fodder for those who criticise Femen.

So, after having read many articles written by journalists who have not yet seen the film, I am now making Femen's response, leaving no space for the fantasies of Femen's enemies.

allowed a man to direct them cause really they were just victims. it was very hard to be strong feminists as they used victimization to allow a man to direct them on how to be used. was really hillarious in a really sick way.

People seemed to claim she was "not a feminist". She was just fighting back. It is what it is. The dude wasn't behind the topless stuff, and he's not part of their organization any longer (for some time, it seems).

If these women want to show their boobs, then let them show their boobs.

i do not even try anymore. so many are called if it has anything to do with feminism. so many feminists voice are dismissed per the anti feminist men. there are plenty of sources if a person chooses to be informed. this posters purpose is, in my opinion, is to dismiss what is being said. i am not gonna get into a wasted discussion. that was not the purpose of the thread. i liked the .... surprise, surprise.

If it's a R/W rag page (The Blaze, The Daily Caller, Twitchy, Natural News), it will get dismissed quickly here.

I am a man. I am not anti-feminist. I only clicked on this OP because I found it interesting there would be a feminist group run by a man. I usually stay out of HoF as I usually don't have anything to add to the conversation. I am, however, anti-RW rags. So, when I see something posted from those, I tend to quickly call them out.

The OP was accusing me of having some sort of anti-feminist agenda. I was just stating what my "agenda" truly is...

I know the story now, and I remember reading about it previously. I'll see my way out.

Natural news--- horrible bullshit. As are the other sources you've named. I've accidentally posted from them through news app sites and greatly appreciate being called out on it.

That being said, the Feman story has been verified from a number of sources.

What's sad as well as ironic is while there are a few hundred Feman protesters--with plenty of media attention but no policy changes anywhere I can find; there were thousands of fully clothed Tunisian women AND men who have been protesting their government, with no little media coverage but the government was forced to deal with it.

i do not know all the many sources that are considered this or that. but, if a person is interested and do not believe the source, a simple google.

we have men telling us we cannot use anything with specific feminists, newspapers, religion.... like the majority of the people in the u.s. are not christians. anything as an excuse derail and dismiss. i do not buy it anymore. there are plenty of sources calling this story out and really has nothing to do with the newspaper. i think ALL the papers in uk are considered tabloid. so which one can i use. who the fuck knows.
