Sexual assault allegations under investigation at Cleburne school (trigger warning)

Last edited Tue Jan 14, 2014, 01:20 PM - Edit history (2)

The mother of a 5-year-old female kindergarten student at Santa Fe Elementary school in Cleburne said two boys sexually assaulted her daughter on Thursday in one of the school’s bathrooms. The mother said her daughter told her that the same two boys have also sexually assaulted at least four other female students at various times throughout the school year.

...

The daughter, the mother said, told her that a boy in her grade and an older boy went into the girl’s bathroom and turned the lights off. The older boy allegedly held the girl down while the younger boy “did stuff” to her, the mother said.

The daughter told her mother that the same boys did the same thing to her the week before Christmas break and that she saw them do the same to at least four other girls on various occasions.

Saw this on the news this morning. The alleged serial rapists are under ten years old.

1. I have to wonder where the boys learned that behavior.

2. Awful. Which raises a question as to what happens to budding sociopaths.

They have now been identified, but will the records be sealed? So sad for the little girls. What are we teaching kids that they won't speak up when this kind of incident happens to them? There just seems to be such an inadequency in parenting, especially of female children. Parents must think they give up their parental power, and children lose their innocence if we teach them early strong physical boundaries. But I say it is just the opposite. Kids are not stupid. They don't need the delusion. They need support and a a strong sense of self-empowerment. That is what makes them whole. And it needs to be modeled. What a pity a group of girls didn't band together and take a baseball bat to the two of them.

4. If these allegations are true, the most likely scenario is that at least one of the boys is a victim

Kids that young learn these behaviors from somewhere, and most likely it's through being abused themselves. The most benign possibility is that at very least they are being encouraged by one or more adult to do girfriend/boyfriend stuff with girls, and have had access to advanced 'material' (porn, seeing an adult couple having sex). However, most likely one or both are victims of sexual assault, and are acting those behaviors out on other kids. It is not uncommon, as we tried to explain in the 'boy gets suspended for kissing girl'-threads.

Tragic, tragic, tragic. I hope they get everything into the light, and that *all* the kids get the help they need.

and make sure someone outside of the school can't get in. but i would be surprised if they did worry about boys, especially that young getting into the girls restrooms and did anything to make it difficult.

Who is designing the school floor plans these days?

i went to some small private school for the first couple years when i started school and we had some restroom which was one room with about 3 toilets . right now i can't remember if the boys had a different room or shared the same one. but it was connected to classrooms.

but the schools i went to after had a restroom which was separate from most classes and many kids had to walk some distance to get to it. and i assumed this was the case reading the article.
