Dante Alighieri

Lasciate ogni speranza, voi ch'entrate.
Abandon all hope, you who enter here.
Canto III, line 9
Frequently mistranslated as "Abandon hope all ye who enter here". The word "all" modifies hope, not those who enter: "ogni speranza" means "all hope".

With a distinct shaming of boys for what is a natural biological function.

And in order to prevent this allegedly shameful thing.... control the girls?

I cannot even begin to process that complete breakdown of logic.

Not to mention it is *extremely* heterosexist.

Put her in a burka, wouldn't help. Hell, put her in a shipping crate and it wouldn't help. Teenage boys possess imaginations.

The problem is entirely within the boy. Fortunately, the majority figure it out.....eventually.....

Wet and bothered. And it did not matter if the boy dressed tight and was "loose".

The problem is we only hear about the po besotted teenage boy

That is the real problem people are not getting and a huge problem in this culture

Because we, as a culture, don't put female sexuality on a fucking altar to be worshipped, as we do male sexuality.

Some of the dumbassery spewed in that thread is simply stunning. Boys are physically incapable of controlling their their eyes and thoughts and isn't it just so very sad? Don't you feel bad for them sea? Don't you pity the poor helpless creatures? All this melodramatic pity of course ignores the real life example provided by the poster who inspired this thread.

It also ignores all the posts from men saying the same thing Jeff did above. But no amount of facts matters when it comes to reinforcing gender-dogma-bullshit.

have we totally ignored our young girls and their plight. there is not even a thought. a second thought. much less a third thought that forever girls too are effected. has nothing to do with what boys are wearing. and yet.... we are shamed, must hide it or ignore it.

and the boys????

OMG. it is uncontrollable. it is all that. it is is is

well. i cannot even get near telling you all that it is for a boys

THOUGH

those of us with sons and connected and close as they grew up knows exactly what it is. those of us with brothers. those of us that have men in our lives

we know the reality of it

and that reality is this pure bullshit and all about ego.

It is unreal how devoted people are to it.

It used to be women's sexuality which was designated as uncontrollable - but when it was women, this wasn't considered harmless or charming or playful, it was dangerous and contemptible. Of course.

those are the two keys. and this is the blind we live... and the damage it creates eventually.... we live blind until we see.

erection. demanding ALL our lives evolve around erection. not even my erection. mans erection. they have nothing else to hold the power..... but have now bottomlined it to the erection.

it cannot control and dominate with intelligence anymore, gun can and other as awareness can lesson thru strength, cannot control thru finance, we are taking care of ourselves. man cannot control thru law... though they are still trying, that ship sailed. they are losing control thru shame, humiliation, inferior, though it still has some hold. too many women have and are putting that aside.

what is truly left for man... to control and dominate the inferior woman? and the only thing they have left is the erection.

very interesting.

and the increased interest on dworkin... lmFUCKINao. you see it. the thread is continuing. i am suppose to be in reading and i have not felt like it. but....

the almighty erection which is taking me to the one movie. ryan, the muscle dude in xman movies, and the other dude. wtf is that movie. oh.... erection and the goofy dude keeps laughing cause he said erection. gonna see it i can find that clip. i am in the mood. it would help if i could remember the name of the movie.

interesting thoughts redqueen.

it is so fuggin funny and exactly what we are talking about. i often go into a chuckle thinking about this scene, reading some of the posts on du.

Just based on the title alone.

I went to a boys high school with girls in it - by that I mean it went co-ed two years before I transferred. We had uniforms and our argument was not the knee length skirts or trousers - but the colors (maroon, navy, and grey) that we were limited too. Senior year we won and were able to wear whatever color blouse, pants (including chinos) skirt or sweater we wanted.

I don't disagree with "prep school" attire for all students but my reasons have to do with driving women to not worry about their appearance AND taking away "some" of the "class" differences in class.

If we had a national school uniform every student would be in white button down shirts and navy, black, or khaki chinos or skirts. Parents could buy these online very cheap.

That said - I never needed to see the remarks that were linked to. Really - referring to adolescent girls as the perpetrators of seduction in the class room? Really?

I'm not playing in that sandbox at DU anymore. I'm not flinging the sand with women or men who will not acknowledge their own participation in gender stereotypes and dismissal as women as either crones or sexual beings. Especially when it does to the sexualization of female minors.

disturbed poster who sought out people he thought were vulnerable and tried his best to inflict pain on them (though, he had no idea how non-vulnerable those posters were, thank God,)...

... and the frequent cheering of that poster by many who are still slithering around DU...

...and the moronic "it's vital that we say as often as possible that boys and men cannot possibly be expected to have any control over their behavior because that way it'll seem legit and we won't have to change the way men and boys talk to each other" posts...

... DU has become a magnet for stupid, vicious posters who hate women with what is probably a criminal intensity. I can just imagine what these charmers do IRL.

I'm at least taking a break. This place has become disgusting. Stay well, all you brave souls who remain to wade through it all.
