HTML Character Codes Are Not Working in DU4

Generally, in DU3, I've imported Greek letters from Word, and they showed up here correctly.

They show up correctly in the Preview but are substituted with a question mark in the text posted.

Overall, I'm liking DU4 though, but this will make science posts difficult if not fixed.

Thanks for all the hard work putting DU4 together!

But do they display in a post?
Only one way to find out.

On edit, some do not render. (?)

Beta, kappa, aleph.

Interesting.

We do have the Greek version of this font installed... trying to paste a Greek character should work. But when I try it, I'm also getting the question mark -- although I'm getting the question mark when I preview too.

It seems to be dependent on which letters you're trying to use. I tried using HTML Numbers (ASCII codes) like the ones featured here, and some of them worked, but others didn't.

I suspect this might be a security issue related to allowed special characters in posts. I'll have to discuss with Elad, but I'm hopeful this is something we'll be able to resolve.

For what it's worth, if you use an ASCII character in a post (and if the ASCII code works) you can do that, but note that the ASCII code will get wiped out when you preview -- as soon as you preview, it will convert into a character in the text box, which will then fail to post when you hit post. So the only way to use this workaround is to either not preview, or preview, and then insert the ASCII code where you want it, then post. Like this:

ά

Of course, that's obviously a pain in the ass and we're don't want to leave it like that -- but hopefully it will make do as a rather crappy workaround until we can get the main problem fixed.

Why does the “Rec” feature strike over and cover the beginning word at the bottom left margin of a post so it’s not readable? Is there a way to fix it? It’s that way on my iPhone
