i am happy to serve as a host for the group

but do not want to contact the admins without feedback from anyone else.

i am generally available late mornings/early afternoons, late at night and on the weekends, so we'll still need coverage during the day.

I'm fine with whatever, as long as the trolls are contained.

I admit to having trouble getting my head around the word as it's used on DU. My understanding for a long time was that a troll was some sort of lurker waiting for the opportunity to ambush threads with negativity for the purpose of disruption of the discussion.

Over the past 6 months it seems to me that term is often applied as a put-down for a person expressing dissent within a thread.

I'm not saying there shouldn't be troll containment I just don't know how how to interpret that word.

I know we're very early days here, but, do you envision some specific troll containment that should be in place immediately?

Not that we can't modify the rules as we go along, but we should try to be as clear as possible in the SOP on any boundaries we want observed.

You know it when you see them after that. Sometimes it's way too obvious, as in, "I hate mentally ill people for ruining my gun hobby." But as for the tricky ones... I'll Du mail examples. I don't want to shake up the zombie tree.

My life at the computer in mom's basement is pretty much a troll free zone...I get caught posting into locked threads, a lot.
